"On my cameras, if I press half_shoot in auto focus mode, then press <left>, it will go into manual focus mode."

Ye Gods, that is SO useful!!  That trick also works on the sx30 and sx40, and do it again and it goes back to auto.  Thanks a lot!

Whilst I am here, can someone please tell me the default button used to activate <ALT> on the sx100? Several say details all on Wiki, but damned if I can find that button listed.  I am trying to set CHDK up on a friends sx100 by email, so not easy for me just to trial and error! Thanks.

The sx100 has a "Print" button ( left hand button on the button bar under the LCD ).  After a quick look at the code I'm guessing that's what you are looking for.

With the ptpCamGui you can also upload all related CHDK files: scripts, single module files, diskboot.bin, ps.fi2/ps.fir or automatically extracted zip files from autobuild servers or local host. The GUI has a developer environment for Lua scripts. You can test scripts without upload to the camera.
I just got ptpCamGui working today and love it. ptpCamGui is included with the Windows shell CHDK compiler. You right click on the shell window and click "guests" to get to it, which is perfectly logical to me ;)

I also downloaded the separate version. I didn't realize it had a lua development environment. I'm using LuaForWindows, which has a great editor that runs lua scripts and shows the syntax errors, at least. I've also used it for other stuff outside of CHDK, like formatting log files for graphing. Anyway, great job on the Gui program!
