OK, I will try this soon.

Meanwhile, I'm having some issues. When I use the camera in Auto mode, I get artifacts. Also, sometimes 2 photos get combined into 2! What's wrong here?
Do you have DNG enabled when this happens? Many recent problems have problems with RAW/DNG when in auto mode.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

I had RAW on. There are no artifacts so far in P mode.

@JvdP
Thanks for testing.
This is the list of modes that are not mapped.
Code: [Select]
// Check of modemap from 'platform/CAMERA/shooting.c':
// Firmware modemap table found @ff0bfabc -> ff0bc508 -> ff24cfe4 -> ff403be8 -> ff826670
// Mode 33295 in firmware but not in current modemap
// Mode 33324 in firmware but not in current modemap
// Mode 33325 in firmware but not in current modemap
// Mode 33326 in firmware but not in current modemap
There are instructions to detect them in reply 91 of this thread.

33295 Face Recognition - "Add to Registry" in the corder then in the middle of the screen it says "Keep the face within the frame, then shoot" When you take a picture of a face it comes up with the face and a question to "Add to register?".

33324/25/26 are Smart Shutter modes. The 25 has "Smile shutter" on, 24 has not. I can't see how 26 is different from 24 though. See photos attached.

Your camera has Face ID.  After registering a person, when camera detect that person's face, it will  prioritize focus, brightness and color for that person. This mode should be MODE_SCN_FACE_SELF_TIMER

Please check if one of those modes is Wink Self-Timer.

Yes, 33324 and 33326 are Wink Self-Timer. But they seem to be exactly the same modes.

I'm having troubles with rebooting the camera with lua. When I reboot over PTP or with a script running on the camera, the camera shuts down but never starts?

As mentioned in the other thread, you should make sure the camera is in playback mode, preferably with the lens retracted before you issue the reboot command.

I know. So I wrote this little script:

Code: [Select]
--[[
@title Reboot
--]]
set_record(0)
sleep(70000)
reboot()

This is what happens:

  • Start script
  • Camera goes in playback mode
  • After some time, lens retracts
  • Then after some more time (70 seconds since script launch) the camera turns off
  • Then I see the Canon HS logo with CHDK logo overlay, camera seems to be booting.
  • Booting seems to take long, but SD card activity LED blinks
  • Then SD card activity LED goes solid.
  • Camera turns off

I have to manually turn it on again (button).

Is there a crash log perhaps? Where can I find that?

Great description, thanks. I'm assuming the above applies even if not connected to PTP, right?

Does this behavior change depending on how many images are on the card (e.g., does it still happen if the card has not pictures on it?)

Misc->debug->save ROM crash log
download ROMLOG.LOG from the camera and post it here.

Miscellaneous  Stuff ->  Debug Parameters -> Save ROM crash log.

Then look for ROMLOG.LOG in the root of your SD card.

I will check asap I have the camera's back from location.

Today I noticed I got the 'Port is expired, please leave feedback'. I've left feedback and this is ongoing. Can I get rid of the message somehow?
