Hi again. I just loaded this one. It works! At a first glance, all seems to be OK, especially the alt button in main rec screen! I will tell you if some problems will show up.
Thanks for confirming, I'll add this change to the 1.3 builds.

Can you please check the 1.4 build from that post?

I tested the newest 1.4 build: button is there, all functions seems to work, although badpixels.bin for unknown reason fails to be created (worked out of the box in 1.3). No problem anyway, I could use DNG 1.3, but for now I will put back in the camera the 1.3 firmware for everyday use.

Thanks for testing. I've checked in both the 1.4 and 1.3 changes.

I strongly suspect the 1.4 hang with the new keyboard code is caused by some underlying bug that is still unresolved and likely to pop up again in the future, but without the camera it's very difficult to debug.

This is probably a coincidence, badpixel creation failing intermittently is a longstanding issue. One reason it can fail is that different pixels are marked bad as the sensor warms up, but there are likely other causes too.

Hm, since I own this specific model, is it possible for me to help in any way?

Testing builds has been very helpful, I'm not sure what more you can do if you aren't able to work on the code directly.

If I had the camera, my next debugging step would be to try to narrow down exactly what happens when it hangs using LED blinks or camera log. Doing this with someone else testing and trying to describe the results would require a lot of builds and be very difficult.

If I come up with something useful to test, I'll post here.

Hi All.

I used CHDK many years for A495 and it works great. But I need to upgrade camera. I need something enough cheap and with high resolution. As far as I understand, CHDK not ready yet for 20MP cameras, so, IXUS 240 with 16MP looks as the best choice.

But I see only alpha version of CHDK for IXUS 240. I understand that it depends on firmware version, but will be alpha version okay  for every day usage ? I need mostly RAW support and PTP extension with live view and shooting by script. Are these operations enough stable ? Or, I need to find some other camera for everyday use ?

One more question is about touch screen. Since there is no buttons, is it possible to control camera through PTP extension for remote shooting, set focus, other things that was emulated sometimes through buttons pressing ?

I have all versions of the Ixus 240 and a bunch of Ixus 125's.
The Ixus 125 could be a better short term solution.

The  Ixus 240 port's still have a number of problems including PtP control.
see Reply #248 on: 11/May/ 015.

While the Ixus 125 is very well tested and has a minor PtP problem regarding
the Vertical PtP Resolution.

Also the Ixus 265 and Sx600 are capable of Wi-Fi Remote Shoot and Wi-Fi Live View
on IOS and Android smart Devices, they are also are Discounted.

And the Ixus 275 and Sx610 are capable of Wi-Fi Remote Shoot and Wi-Fi Live View
on IOS and Android smart Devices, they are the current canon models

Download the canon user manuals for more details of Wi-Fi remote Control.

Canon has two Wi-Fi "Smart Apps" the older Canon Camera Window and the newer
Canon Camera Connect, which can also remotely control DSLR Canon Cameras.
