Yet another gadget (cant live without them).....

Here goes.....Wireless camera tethering....

Ok, a little transmitter that you plug into your cameras USB port,  allows you to remotely control your camera   wirelessly with an app on your iPhone, iPad, Android.

the app communicates with the transmitter device directly, and lets you....

* wirelessly see live view of your cameras viewfinder
* wirelessly change camera settings like ISO, aperture, shutter speed, white balance, more
* wirelessly take pictures that are instantly uploaded to the app from the camera
* wirelessly browse files and folders that are on the camera, or delete them wirelessly too
* Built-in intervalometer lets you program it to automatically take multiple pictures and change camera settings
ex: HDR, layered bracketing, time lapse, stop motion, astronomy etc

Oh yea, No computer, so you can take it out into the wilderness and its still wireless out there.

what the heck, give it a shot, maybe it can help you, take a look http://nsmi76.wix.com/cam-os

cool runnings

CHDK does not, and will never run on DSLRs. DSLR related posts should go in the DSLR subforum.

That said, you could accomplish most of this on a CHDK camera using the CHDK PTP extension and something like a raspberry pi. All that's really needed is some glue between chdkptp and a network protocol, and a client on whatever device you are going to use to control it. This is something I'd like to work on if I ever get the time.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

The camera's A/V output can be converted to a parallel output using various single chips.

What would the microcontroller then do to transmit a serial stream wirelessly that is in a form to be recognised by the iOS or Android device ?

Essentially a spam posting - $179 gizmo for sale.  Claims to be "in testing" with a number of Canon P&S caneras.

I guess this is technically not against the unwritten rules here but its pretty close. There was no request for support or question for the CHDK technical community.  Just an advert.
