Can't get version from A610

Hi Everyone,
My name is Dennis I am new to this site and CHDK. I was trying to find out if there was a way to remotely trigger the shutter on my A610 when I stumbled across CHDK. And I'm glad I did.

I am having trouble getting the Firmware version on my A610. I went to the CHDK for Dummies page and followed the directions. I think I made the two files (vers.req & ver.req) correctly. Then put them in the DCIM folder. I put the card back in the camera and set it to view pic. setting. I held the Func Set and pushed the Display button. Nothing happened. I tried Func Set with all other button combinations and still nothing. Can someone please tell me that I'm doing wrong or overlooking?

Also on a second note I noticed that the 30D was not in the camera list. However the 20D and 40D is. Is it just not supported or was it missed? And has anyone tried to add Live View to a 30D?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Dennis

Probably easier just to use the ACID utility than figure this out :   http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/ACID

The 30D (and the 20D & 40D) are DSLR's.  They will not run CHDK.  You might be able to get info about using Magic Lantern or something for them.
