There doesn't seem to be the firmware update option required to load CHDK.
Like the man said :
You have to use the bootable SD card method.
Info on how to do that here :  http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Prepare_your_SD_card

I've tried a couple of methods on there.

Both the After 2010 and Before 2011 guides and I'm still not in CHDK.

The camera just says the card is locked. Is it a case of me doing it wrong or that the F version won't work with my G camera?

Tried with CardTricks too and no luck.

Working now, CardTricks hadn't copied over CHDK correctly. I'll see what works and doesn't.

The SD960 was released in Feb 2009 so you want to use the "before 2011" instructions.

If you have formatted your SD card correctly,  then the F version will boot and either work or crash.  You won't get the "Card Locked" message - that means the camera does not recognize the card as bootable or there is no diskboot.bin file on the SD card.

Thanks for the help.

I've tested it using the alternative CHDK PTP client and it seems to work well with that.

Menus seem ok, no crashes yet.

boot ✔
menus ✔
ptp ✔

If you could additionally test the photo and video overrides, that would be great  ;)

In case they don't show up, these: ✔ are check marks.

First test version for firmware 1.01f
Since I can't test this myself, please report whether it works, and any issues that you find.
You have to use the bootable SD card method.
Please note that
- you can enter/leave ALT mode by a short press on the play [>] button
- you have to press the play button longer for its original function
- you must leave ALT mode to be able to switch the camera off with the on/off button

update
This build is also compatible with the 1.01g firmware version. If you'd like to get current CHDK builds for 1.01f, 1.01g, please test this version and report your results in this thread.
Hi there, tried the 1.01f for my ixus110is and it works like a charm. Haven't played with it much but the stuff I tried did work.

My IXUS 110 IS has the firmware GM1.00B. I just hope it's not too different to the already known firmware versions and another build can be provided for my version.

Thanks a lot.

It's not too different, but still different enough to require a new port
