S95 and focus bracketing

I would like to make macro series using focus bracketing.
But with my camera (firmware v. 1.00h) and the newest stable version of CHDK (1.2.0)
the bracketing distance that can be entered must be a multiple of 100 (mm), which makes it pretty useless for this purpose.
(Menu "Enhanced Photo Operations" / "Bracketing in Continious Mode" / "Subj. Dist. Bracket Value").

Is it a restriction of my camera, a bug of CHDK or (I'm quite new to CHDK) did I something wrong?

How do I make focus bracketing every say 3 mm?

Greetings!

BTW
In the manual there is an * at that postion but no explanation what it means.
And the articel concerning focus stacking (http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/DoF_Stacking) seems to be completely out of date.

When using that menu entry,  use your camera's zoom lever to move the "cursor" to the tens or units digit and then adjust the distance in increments of 10 mm or 1 mm respectively.  The same trick works for any CHDK menu numeric input field.

When there is a [ * ] then that CHDK feature is enabled.

Thank you VERY much for your assistance.  :)

So focus bracketing with small distances works at the S95.

The acronym "PEBKAC" was new to me.
Maybe you're right and I should have found by myself.
But maybe my question/ annotations (being a newbie) points to some weaknesses/ trapfalls?

Greetings!  :)

I was answering your question about whether the problem was the camera, CHDK or you.   Was intended to be humorous rather than a  slight but when I look again at the definitions I linked, they are somewhat negative. I apologize for that.

As far as your initial troubles, it's one of the common things people miss when first using CHDK.  That's why its explained in a big blue info box at the very start of the CHDK manual :
http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_1.2.0_User_Manual#CHDK_Main_Menu
There is another acronym that often comes up here :  RTFM.  But to be honest I never read manuals either unless I can't figure things out by trial & error.

The macro focus adjustment setting menu item is actually kind of unique - most numeric fields default the adjustable digit being the right most one.   Newbies sometimes complain about having to press the "up" button hundreds or thousands of times to enter long exposure times (for example).

If you have a better suggestion about how it might be possible to adjust numeric fields given the limited number of keys on the camera, we would be interested.   Maybe some combination of keys where you press "Func/Set" once to enter an edit mode where the left & right buttons move between digits and up & down change the digits. Press "Func/Set" again to lock in the value.   Not sure that's any better for a newbie though - how would they know to use "Func/Set" in the first place?

I'm really grateful for your help and I don't see any reason for you to apologize  :)

Concerning adjusting numeric fields I have to say that I didn't saw the mentioned big blue info box.
(Yes, I will RTFM now.  ;))
And then I don't have a better idea straight off than you do with the zoom lever.
Actually I asked myself why Canon doesn't take all this good ideas of CHDK and insert them into their firmware at once.
Maybe one reason is that operating all this additional fields by the few camera (specific) buttons
would confuse/ put off many "normal" users. Not to mention the effect of the fast draining accu.

OK, the newbie will continue playing on ... and will do suggestions when he's as far.

Thankyou once more!
