Control of self-timer lamp

There appears to be no way in the Canon menus of switching off the self-timer lamp. When taking brackets the lamp flashes on count down and between frames, despite the Canon menu showing AF-assist off.

Can CHDK be used to force the lamp to be fully off all the time?

Not currently. You might be able to turn the lamp off every 10ms or so, making any flashes very short.
