Thank you, that worked, now that I've got that worked out, the .dng files I shoot are just noise and I have 3 different ways of viewing them  Photoshop, Irfanview and Picasa.  Any suggestions as to what to try?

What camera model and f/w version are you using ?

Are your trying to look at RAW images or did you actually select DNG in the CHDK menu ?

I chose .dng in CHDK menu.  Should I have chosen .crw?

DNG is a better option.  What camera are you using ?

Make sure that you're not using the AUTO mode of the camera, if you need RAW images. You can find a note about this on the camera's wikia page: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/SX260#Known_issues

Thank you, so much, much better on "M", though the images are much darker than they should be.
