60 minutes video limit, can it be worked around?

I did a lot of searching and digging on this problem here in the forum, but I could not come to a conclusion. Can this limit be removed on all cameras? Is it supported on CHDK stable version?
I know that people have been working on this:

But all the topics on this matter seem to end with no conclusions or a tool to change the limit.
I need to record some lessons that are bit longer than one hour and i'd love to use my digital camera (Canon SD1000) instead of going through an OLD VHS camera.
Thank you in advance for any pointers to the solution.

The 60 minute limit has been removed on several cameras.  However, the hack to do so needs to be implemented on a per camera and per firmware version.

So far the supported cameras are the a1200, ixus230_elph310hs, sx240hs, sx260hs, sx50hs, sx230hs & sx220hs.

Also, depending on the video resolution you choose,  you could run up against the 4G FAT32 file size limit.

However,  you might want to also look at this :  http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Continuous_Video_Scripts
