"Extra Photo Operations" turns my camera off!?

"Extra Photo Operations" turns my camera off!?

I have an S5IS and just installed chdk.  Everything seems to work except for the "Extra Photo Operations" item.  As soon as I press either "set" or the right arrow my camera just turns off.  I tried updating the camera firmware, but that didn't seem to do the trick. 

Has this happened to anyone else? Any help would be appreciated.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but is your CHDK optimised for your camera firmware? I'm going to assume it is, but it's definitely worth a check.

Hmm, forgive me if it is a silly question, but how do I check for the correct firmware?  I used STICK for the installation and I believe it did all that.  If you are referring the vers.req file, yes that was done.  But if there is a way to find out if the correct version was installed I would very much like to know how.  Thanks for the reply.

That's not a real firmware update (there isn't one for the S5), just another method to start CHDK.

Unfortunately we still don't know anything, as both people reporting have "disappeared".

You can find out the firmware version by starting the cam in play mode, pressing & holding SET and then pressing DISP: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Ver.req#Q._How_can_I_get_the_original_firmware_version_number_of_my_camera.3F

If you can get a romlog, that could help.

srsa_4c found a similar problem with some of his older cameras.
I've modified the same code for the S5IS and attached are test versions for the two firmware versions of the S5IS.

Hi Phil,

I updated to the latest version yesterday and after that I had the same problem with the "Extra Photo Operations". But your version corrected the problem.
Nevertheless, I noticed that  the "Curves" option disappeared.

Thanks for the update - I'll add the fix to SVN.

The version I posted is the development (1.2) version - the curves menu has been moved to the 'Extra Operations' menu.
