HELP I am sooooo lost

I know there have been so many like this but please indulge me. I have a sx40 for over a year. I want to use chdk for a up coming trip.

1) How do I find which version I need?

2) What is the largest card I can use?

3) what do I need to do to it?

4) when I get the software how do I install it

5) what else is important that I need to know to get shooting?

It's quite unlikely you will get a more complete answer on the forum than you'll find there. If there is some *specific* point you are confused about, people here may be able to help.

You can use any size card supported by the camera without CHDK. On older cameras, using cards larger than 4gb is more complex, but this does not apply to the SX40.

If you use an SDXC card (usually 64gb or larger) you'll have to reformat it fat32.
