I have a sx40. I want to get a 32gig SD card to put CHDK on it to use. What make and model card would you say is the best one for the job?

If you expect to be inserting and removing the card a lot between the camera and a card reader then don't use Sandisk cards.

I use to use them exclusively; but their latest offerings use extremely cheap and flimsy construction. The lock switch is particularly weak, which is a problem as you need to switch this back and forth between the camera and the computer. The lock switch is held in place by the product label on the front of the card - I actually had one break off when inserted into a card reader.

I now use the Lexar 400x cards.

Phil.
CHDK ports:
  sx30is (1.00c, 1.00h, 1.00l, 1.00n & 1.00p)
  g12 (1.00c, 1.00e, 1.00f & 1.00g)
  sx130is (1.01d & 1.01f)
  ixus310hs (1.00a & 1.01a)
  sx40hs (1.00d, 1.00g & 1.00i)
  g1x (1.00e, 1.00f & 1.00g)
  g5x (1.00c, 1.01a, 1.01b)
  g7x2 (1.01a, 1.01b, 1.10b)

Go for a class 10 card.  The speed makes a difference when saving RAW/DNG.

I too have a small stack of SD cards with broken lock switches - including at least 1 Sandisk.   Thank goodness for chdkptp - I almost never swap cards anymore when loading versions of CHDK or scripts.

I've had good luck with the current Sandisk 32GB and 64GB cards. They don't seem to have the problem with the write protect switch that Phil describes.

Today only, Amazon is doing their Deal of The Day, or something. I bought both cards a few months ago, the last time they were on sale. Here's the links for both SD sizes, today only:

32GB $22.99

64GB $41.99
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Ultra-Class-Memory-SDSDU-064G-AFFP/dp/B007M51IZM/

Both of them are class 10, and work in the G1X, SX50, and SX260 for me.

...or just use a card reader which ignores the lock ;)  :D
