Using high shutter speeds

Hi, I am new so try to excuse my ignorance.

How are the super high shutter rates possible? Are they electronic, meaning they are controlled by the CCD? or does the shutter actually move that fast?

I am concerned that the super high shutter speeds will break the shutter in my camera.

Thanks!

P.S. Thanks to the developers for this amazing gift!

No worries, very valid question for a newbie.

Electronic.

A bunch of us have been using it for months and no reports of broken camera yet.
