This kit may be of use to anyone who wants to rotate their camera with a stepper motor controlled by a picaxe chip.

Supplier Oatley Electronics - Australia.

Oatley Electronics

EDIT: I should have stated for Australian experimenters.

Depending where you live in Australia it is difficult to obtain parts. Importing from Europe and the USA takes time and the costs are prohibited compared to utilising other off the shelf hobbyist parts or adapting Chinese made toys. Some good ideas end up in the bin because of costs. I am looking at the PICAXE approach for that reason. The cost of using discrete digital chips is uneconomical compared to adapting PICAXE designs used for other projects.

There are a multitude of solutions in this area already - quite a few of them developed for Kite Aerial Photography (KAP - which typically involves pan and tilt as well as shutter control).  For some home-brew examples, see http://www.flickr.com/groups/kaprigs/. There are commercially available controllers for KAP too - see the KAP Shop here http://www.kapshop.com/index.php?cPath=6_1.

I didn't notice where you lived, Databoy - Australia is indeed a long way from more or less anywhere. My apologies. Mind you it works both ways. I remember seeing an abstract of an article in Silicon Chip which I desperately wanted to read, but it wasn't available in the UK.  I think now you can pay online to get electronic access.
