I would really love to make my SD850IS more lik the SD870IS with its wide angle lens.  Obviously we are limited to the hardware on the camera but someone posted that it was possible.

Is it possible and with what software?

I didn't here of wide angle, but super-tele-macro mode that can be done with a script ...
(It's what others would call: Noises of a camera just before death)
So nothening funny at the moment.
Maybe there is some setting like that, but I can't imagine this.
(As you mentioned: hardware limits, supertelemacro is "only" focus to useful in tele mode.)

So at this point I'm more the hardware guy LOL.
But we'll see what's possible.

And adapter lens has also the feature of dirt prevention.
