Hi, Basq. Any progress lately?

Does anyone else know if anyone else is working on this?

I, too, am looking for a port for the SD550. I would try it myself, but I have zero clue when it comes to assembler... or much other coding, for that matter.  :D

Hi,

i don't have so much time to work on it. I've read and read a lot of forum replies, because i couldn't find any good document about porting, especially, what to search and how in disassembled sources. I tried a lot of things, but even my cam won't boot with my CHDK port. :(

Well we can't just leave it like that now can we? :P

I have an IXY 700 which is the Japanease name for the IXUS 750 (SD550).

Code: [Select]
Canon IXY DIGITAL 700
P-ID:3116  NT
Firmware Ver GM1.00H
E18

Ofcource i found CHDK only a week ago, but im willing to learn how to port this with the help of some pointers.
I got the .dum firmware with udumper and cleaned it + saved it to .bin with XVI32. I only removed the pile of zeroes at start and the pile of FF + zeroes at end. If you can, please confirm that i did it right? .dum file; end result

The next step would be the 'Loading dump to IDA', right?

/edit: i compared my firmware with basq's. They are identical.

did it work Mihkel? I just found CHDK too, and I've got an SD550. I'm more of a photographer (the 550 is my "just for fun" point and shoot) than a programmer, but I'd be willing to test anything you guys can come up with.

yea IDA loaded it perfectly, but thats just the tip of the iceberg :p
i think i can understand the compiling process, but not extactly which files am i supposed to change in CHDK. It kind of bites that there isnt a page in wiki which explains the porting process in general.

i have loads of questions i need to ask from developers, but im so confused right now that ill read some more :P

Gotcha. Good luck with the process. I'll be watching this thread with anticipation! And if any developers see this and want to give Mihkel a few pointers or point him in the right direction, I know all us 550 users would appreciate it.

Mihkel, I wish you good luck and a lot of free time!

I've just uploaded my platform and lib directories what I made for the main trunk's source code to start the porting. You can check the files, but it may contain errors and codes what you need replace, repair, remake :)

I hope it can help something.

First step is to find out addresses and modify some codes to be able to booting on the camera!

I'm also really interested but I don't have time now to do this.

Also a software developer who owns a SD550.  I'm just catching up but I'm another resource to try out a port for my camera.
Thanks
Goose.
