SD850 and Build 49, not working =(

newbie here, am trying to load Build 49.
(note: I run linux...)
I put vers.req on the card, I have 1.00c
I downloaded the allbest-ixus950_sd850-100c-49.zip and english.lng file
unzipped the zip, copied all three files to my SD card (my laptop has a built in card reader/writer)
put card in camera, set to play mode, turn it on, go to the menu, "update firmware" asks if I want to update from 1.0.0.0 to 1.0.1.1, I select "OK" screen blanks, print light turns on, and it "freezes".

any ideas on whats going wrong?

I have the exact same issue, I tested it with both my SD 850IS canons and got the same freeze as above.

I use Windows XP and used my laptop card reader and followed the same steps as the above poster.

Anyone have any suggestions? Would love to try this out!

Same problem here. The update just locks up the sd850.

Same problem. I have a Cannon PowerShot SD850 IS and I load the latest firmware on my camera from my Vista computer and it asks to upgrade, and I click yes and the screen shuts off and the blue print light turns on and stays there. Any help would be MUCH apprecaited

I'm sorry to be such a noob, but where can I find the updating build 49 and what is trunk #364? I snagged the 100c from Index of /chdk/ but i believe this is the original build 49 that just causes the sd850 to hang.

New question though. I see the SD850 only has the ND Filter as either in or out. So for any sort of long exposure shot in a setting with a lot of light (just a regular day), is the best I can do to turn the ND Filter ON, and exposure to -2? Is there any way to come up wtih a shot that doesn't end up completely white if open for more than 1 second using some of these CHDK settings?
