Hi,

If you have a SX40 and a CHDK, once you use CHDK with the camera you'll notice a "messy" display with lots of icons and really confusing displays... I've re-arranged the icons on the display screen of the camera and it's not messy anymore. Download the file and put it into the CHDK folder. also the unnecessary icons are hidden.

My SX40 uses the latest version (I) of firmware at the time I'm writing this thread, And I use the CHDK v.1.1.0 stable version. it should work on  the other versions of this camera, too.

We've had some discussion about making it possible for default icon positions to be set on a "per camera model" basis but talk is as far as we have gone so far.

True. When using the SX40HS(I), I have many of the icons hidden.

But my main concern now is that the SX40HS boots slow when using an 8GB card.
If I use a slow-cheap 4GB card it boots a lot faster.

Do you have a lot more images on the 8G card than the 4G card?

Hi waterwingz, nope, both cards empty.
Could it be how the card format? 16/32 bit? Boot sectors?
Or chdk booting code?
don't know.
