intervalometer too slow on sx30

and an another question bugging me for quite a while.
my not-too-old sx30 takes pictures with intervalometer quite slow both compared to its own burst mode but even to my old compacts (a530, my mothers a590). these old a series compacts with average cards take a picture less than every 2 seconds, sx30 with one of those newer sandisk ultras or a transcend class10 card takes more than 2 secs to take a picture. if i remember well, theres about half a second between sx30 and the oldies.
strange and annoying.
any ideas whats wrong and how could i convince the sx30 to be a bit faster?
thanks,
g

EDIT: funnily enough the theoretically slower transcend seemed to be a teeny bit faster than the ultra (both 16gb)

Which intervalometer script are you using?

Most intervalometers will be quite a bit slower than continuous mode, because they do a full halfshoot/focus/shoot cycle.

If you have review on or raw / dng enabled, that will slow things down too.

Card speed isn't likely to be a very significant factor, unless you care comparing really terrible cards to fast ones.
Don't forget what the H stands for.

i use this script:
http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Lua/Scripts:_Accurate_Intervalometer_with_power-saving_and_pre-focus
for the display off feature (doesnt really work on sx30, but does a lot of good for an a530 eg, 2000+ pictures instead of about 700 with two 2000mah eneloops) and yes, exactly for the setting which makes it possible to focus only at the first picture.
no raw/dng/ review mode.

You might also want to take a look at this script : Fast_Shooter_Intervalometer

It would be quite easy to add a bit of code to disable RAW/DNG if you thought that is an important feature.

thanks for your input.
the raw/dng thingie was an answer to reyalps question, i dont mind them.
thanks for the link, seems a lot happened since i browsed chdk scripts (countinous video script, yummy), it will do nice when speed is a factor - which is most of the time. (sometimes i take pictures with several cameras synchronized, in that case its not so good, but who says im not smart enough to use TWO scripts? 8))
