Am a Total Newbie concerning both my A570IS camera and CHDK but think CHDK is EXCELLENT! 

Hope that someone may have some tips or suggestions concerning the manual focus problem I am having at 60 to 80 cm.

The Canon Manual Focus close scale goes to 50 cm then there is a switch to the standard scale but no numbers for close end (60, 70 cm...)  The Canon User Guide mentions using MF in combination with Auto Focus (Safety MF) but have found this not entirely dependable as to where the focus point will actually be (using the subject distance in the EXIF file).

Thanks for the tips!

Have run a number of tests from a fixed distance(~40cm).  Have A570IS Canon PowerShot A570 IS Digital camera reviews - CNET Reviews so for the tests measured from the top chrome strip to the Target and this value is always 2 to 5 cm less than what is listed in the EXIF file.

"I use the "Subj. Dist. from Lens" value on my display."  Will try it.  What point on the camera lens do you use to measure the distance to the Target?  Am guessing the front but "Never Assume".
