thanks for your answer.
i looked into the script (accurate intervalometer) im using and it contains "shoot_half", so i guess it uses method 2. (it can be set to focus only at the first picture). still a bit more than 2 secs/pic, a bit more than the same script with same settings on my older cameras (a530, sx100, a460, my mums a590).
annoying.

and another offtopic question you might be able to answer if you use your sx260 for timelapse. how many pictures can you take with one charged up battery using your intervalometer?
(the official value for sx30 is 370, but with the script above you can go up to about 2200+, the official for sx260 is 230, so that would mean with the script... 1200? 1400?)

It seems like the limit for the battery is more time than number of pictures. At 1 shot per second in continuous mode, the battery lasts about 1.5 hours. I've taken over 4,000 pictures in that time at 1 shot per second before the sun went down. After sunset, the shots slow up because of the increased shutter time.
