I still wonder why the OP wants to take extended shutter speed photos in daylight
So you can blur subjects such as flowing water without stopping down.
Most users do not understand but on these small sensor cameras the aperture is effectively the set aperture multiplied by the crop factor (as far as depth-of-field is concerned).
So, f4 on my S95 is equivalent to f18 on a 35mm camera.
In fact, stopping down these cameras at all may lead to loss of sharpness.
My own tests showed that was the case with the S95.
At full telephoto and with no stopping down my S95 is effectively f22 !
