Shutter Override confusion - Allbest Build 49 - Canon 720is

First off, excellent job on this build.  However, I am trying to do some high speed photography and cannot for the life of me figure out how to properly set the Shutter override using Allbest Build 49.

I have already reviewed the "Override shutter speed value" section at CHDK firmware usage/AllBest - CHDK Wiki, but I cannot do what the instructions state.  They state:

Value factor = OFF, 1/100K, 1/10000, 1/1000, 1/100, 1/10, 1, 10, 100

The only choices I see for Value Factor are OFF and 1.

So, I'm stumped.  Was there a change to the "Value factor" choices in Build 49 that are not yet documented?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Peter

change "shutter speed enum type" to factor.

Thank you.  That did it.  But I chose EV Step because it describes the two choices as:

  • EV Step -- Shutter speed selection, by 1/3EV steps (the standard shutter selection). Eg: 1/2" (second), 1/1600", etc. Most people will probably choose this famililar 1/3EV step method.

  • Factor --- Select shutter-speeds by decimal equivalents. (Extremely valuable for analytic and research photography needs.)

Since I'm not doing analytic or research photography, I chose EV Step.   So I guess I would have to do a mathematical calculation each time I want to use a high-speed shutter speed.  Oh well, it's a nice feature I guess if you don't mind doing math before you shoot.  I'll pass until there's a Build that just allows you to set a standard fraction.

Thanks for the answer though.

ev step does just that - standard fractions. the factor in this case is just an on/off switch.

Then the instructions at CHDK firmware usage/AllBest - CHDK Wiki seem to make no sense, or I'm an idiot. (which is entirely possible :))

It says:

Example: If you wish to use a shutter speed of 1/50,000th of a second shutter speed, you select an Override Shutter Speed Value of 2, and a Value Factor of 1/100K. (2/100,000 = 1/50,000)

So, according to these instructions, I have to calculate the speed I want to use by setting Override Shutter Speed to something other than 1/50,000.  Namely, I have to set Override Shutter Speed to "2" and Value Factor to "1/100k."  And I can only set the Value Factor to something other than OFF or 1, if I set enum type to Factor.
