Hi.

When I'm trying to upgrade firmware with CHDK my camera is shutting down.
I've got  PowerShot SX120IS. I have no idea to solve this problem. I have seen a lot of tutorials, and I think I do everything correctly.

Can You help me, please?

First of all, CHDK does not upgrade or change your camera's firmware in any way.  It loads in the cameras volatile memory (RAM) and disappears from there every time you reset the camera.

It will be a lot easier to help if we have some idea what you have tried.  Please list the steps in detail.

Typically, if you get CHDK installed correctly and it just shuts down the camera then you have installed the wrong version for the firmware in your camera.

Did you read through this and follow these instructions carefully : http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Prepare_your_SD_card  ??

Hint :  the sx120 was released in 2009.

1. I'm formating memory SD Card (FAT 32), 4GB.
2. All files of from http://mighty-hoernsche.de/ (dedicated for SX120IS) was copied to SD Card.
3. When I'm pressing the "play" button on camera, my camera starts, and then I'm going to "Upgrade" option
4. After clicking "Yes" to accept upgrade, my camera's shutting down.

My friend has a SX130IS with CHDK, and he tried to help me, but he couldn't.
I was trying to upgrade with 3 different SD Cards, but always the same trouble.

Is it some trouble?

The version of CHDK that you download must match the firmware of your camera.  If you don't get the one that matches the firmware version of your camera, it will not work. How did you determine the firmware version of your camera?   Although there is only one CHDK installation file available for the sx120, that  does not mean its the one for your camera!

You need to carefully read through the link I posted for you.  The year your camera was released determines which options you have for loading CHDK on your camera.

It looks like you have the right version.  I don't know why you can't get CHDK to load via that "firmware update" method.  Did you try configuring your card for the "SD Card Lock" method of autobooting CHDK instead?

Yes I did.
I've tried to use a lot of methods, even rewriting bootsectors, locking, and unlocking SD Card. I've been using 128MB card, 4GB and 2GB. No effect.
I don't want to lose all of these features of CHDK...

Did you notice that the sx120 requires a FAT16 formatted card for autobooting ?  You mentioned using FAT32 in your original post.

I think, k0rdian tries the firmware update method. And this feature does not work correctly for the SX120.

Here was reported a solution: http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=4284.msg79624#msg79624
