I figured it was a false positive.

I just checked the site that you referenced.  It has bintext version 3.0.3.0 and it is not flagged by Avast, but version 3.0.0.1 that is included in Cardtricks 1.44 does get flagged, so McAfee must have changed something so it doesn't look like a virus anymore.

Thanks for the quick response.

Hi Everyone... I've used CHDK for a while now... on Canon SD1200IS, Canon S2 IS and Canon S5 IS... The S2 and S5 are broken... I just bought a Canon SX20IS... with a 16GB card ... I use Windows 7 but I have a PC with windows XP as well...

I've tried all the things here: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Bootable_SD_card ...
here: http://magiclantern.wikia.com/wiki/Bootdisk - Bootdisk doesn't run - says some dll is missing...
Plus have been here http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK_and_SD_cards_greater_than_4GB_%288GB,_16GB,_32GB,_64GB%29 but I don't have linux

Can anyone please walk me through the correct steps with win 7 or XP to install CHDK on SX20 IS? Given that I don't have access to linux machines...

Thanks :-) (There's a great cloudy sky outside and I'm missing that :-( )

For cards  bigger than 4G,  you really should be using sdminste.exe.  Link here: http://stereo.jpn.org/eng/sdm/quick.htm

Works fine on XP or 7.

Here is a posting that should help: http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php?topic=6173.msg62637#msg62637

The tutorial link is still active. Have fun with your SX20!

Thanks SkyWalker9 and waterwingz: I tried the PDF and it works (I checked the 'quick' link too -- seems to say the same thing)  :-) I'm even surprised to see that the canon Software downloads the photos without fuss despite the dual partition... I had imagined that i would have needed to do the swap thing for every photo import ... EXCEEDS expectations...

Many Thanks...

On a side note... why is it so difficult to fall on the right info? the other links were all buggy to me :-S ...

Cheers,

Reuben

Link rot.  This is an all volunteer operation and things change fast and get out of date even faster.  Feel free to clean up what you can.

Hi,
Just wondering if Cardtricks is being actively maintained?  I am confused since there is a version 145 out yet this thread seems older.  I have 145, but can't get it to make fat32 cards bootable.

I don't think so - it never supported dual partition booting and that's been around for years

So far, the only ways to do that are via Linux or Apple utilities.  Or using the CHDK in the camera to do that.

I've tried to keep this up-to-date :
