Canon SDK support

Hello,

I was wondering whether the support for Canon's PS-Rec SDK on certain cameras is a firmware enabled feature.  Has any of the firmware disassemblers found anything that would enable or disable SDK support?  For instance, the Canon A640 supports the SDK but the A710 does not.  I would be really interested in enabling SDK support on cameras who currently are not supported.

Any input would be appreciated,

-CJ

Bump :)

Yeah, the A630, the "little brother" to the A640 also doesn't support Canon's software. I believe the only difference between the 2 models (and a lot of models which numbers differ by 10) is the megapixel-count and this PC-control-over-USB support, so if any of the expert hackers can see where the A630 and the A640 firmwares differ, please implement a hack to remove this cripple!

As far as I understand canon's SDK is not freely available for download?
Can someone share it somehow?
I really want to look into it ;)

Hrr, they are asking to fillin the "SDK agreement", don't think it'll be good to fillin "Your Primary SDK Application:" with "I'm a CHDK hacker, just want to see your SDK" ;)

So... does anybody has it and can share?

@cail

at one point I was experimenting with PSRemote (didn't like it BTW) but I noticed it had obviously been
made with SDK. Soooo, I took the files and ran them through IDA 5.2

here's the result (I'm not good at IDA, so could prob be improved)

files + dumps: sdk-files-from-psremote.zip - 17.71MB

of course this are only the files of a deployed SDK

have fun
