A590IS low battery issue and help needed

I have an A590IS camera.  It is good but " low battery" icon appears in just 2 days even with a freshly charged new 2.7Ah Ni MH batteries. I am electronician and say that " no problem" with charger , they are all controlled. I run the latest chdk firmvare. My camera's info as below.

Firmware GM 1.01B
No error
Jan 24 2008

Chdk version : 1.1.0  2695 0

I turned on the battery voltage indicater on in alt mode. Set the low voltage 1.8v and high to 2.8V

After taking some shots and just two days later, battery voltage drops below the 2.4V . If it momenteraly drops below 2.3V or so, the red low battery indicator appears and if you try the shot new pictures, it turns off saying that " replace the battery".  I wait some time without replacing batteries and turn on the camera again in play mode ( I usually do in this manner) , then switch to record mode. Now I see that battery voltage is around 2.48V. I take some more pictures more.

I had read from the internet that there is loose contact problem in the battery compartment of  this camera. I checked that it is not the case in my one , I clean the batteries and terminals accordingly before installing the batteries.

What I want to test is that , if  there is a chance of  disabling the low battery automatic camera off feature  of this camera.
If somebody advise or write a small script for it , I would like to test it and see the result. Thanks for your help and advise..

The problem is the reduced capacity of the battery, after charging potential increases and the voltage looks fine but because of due to deterioration of battery, capacity remains low. I have this camera and I had such a problem with the old battery ,with a new set of batteries everything was good.

Hi Blackhole,
Believe me that it is something more than just battery issue.  Now I am still testing the batteries after turning off automatically and giving the "replace the battery" indication. I have not removed the batteries and even not opened the battery compartment cover.

After the auto turned off, I run it play mode more than 30 minutes continouesly ( in slayt show mode ) so it has consumed the battery even fruther w/o problem. Then take it into record mode and read the battery voltage , it indicate 2.43V!! and functions normally, tooke pictures.

But just at the beginning as I said above, for some reason or the other, battery voltage dropped or read so low and it had turned it off  >:(..

So if I could find a way of disabling it manuelly , I am sure it  will work w/o such annoying turn offs.

So I wait for an advise to turn it off.

There is a known issue with this style of camera (the 550 560 570 etc)

The problem seems to be that the battery contacts dont press very firmly on the battery, and as a result there is a slight voltage drop across the contacts.

This issue has been mentioned before in this forum (try searching for battery issue or similar).

There are also a number of youtube videos related to this.

Try Canon Powershot - Low Battery Icon Fix

... or search Youtube for powershot battery fix or similar.

The problem seems worse with rechargables, as they typically have a lower charged voltage than Alkalines, but it affects a lot of different models and is not specific to a particular battery type.

See this post, but I am convinced that the problem is in a bad batteries.
