A570IS Max SD Card?

Still like my old A570IS, especially with CHDK mods!!!

Am in the market for a New SD card.

Rechecked the A570IS man and since it supports SDHC the Max size is listed as 32GB.

Like to use my A570IS for video and interval recording so would be interested in going larger.

Also did some cost per GB pricing and can get a 64GB card cheaper than a 32GB one (same mfr and model).

Would be interested in the largest SD card others with an A570IS (or others cameras with DIGIC III Image Processor etc) have been able to use.

Thanks

Gene

Am guessing that I will have to partition the large SD card.

Nice that others have gone before me.

Checked CHDK Wiki Prepare your SD card http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Prepare_your_SD_card  which was very helpful.

As previously mentioned am interested in how others have setup their large SD cards for max video and interval RAW times.

Since posting have been searching the Internet concerning partitioning SDXC Cards.

Found Before Using Your SDXC Memory Card "If you need to format an SDXC memory card, you can typically format it by using your SDXC device or by using the SD Formatter 3.0 with your computer." https://www.sdcard.org/consumers/sdxc_capabilities/using_sdxc/

Hope after formating and partitioning that a smart CHDK user has been able to trick the old Canon SDHC cameras into seeing a 64GB SDXC card as two 32GB SDHC cards.

Have checked the forum but have not found anything yet.

If you are partitioning the card to allow for autobooting then you need to make the first partition small - 1Meg will do.  That's because you will need to format that partition as FAT16, which has a 4G size limit.  And you will only use that partition to hold your diskboot.bin file.  Everything else, including all of CHDK and all your photos go on the other large partition.  In your case, that second partition will be almost 64G - impressive.

waterwingz,

I have been searching the CHDK forum for posting of a CHDK user being about to use a large SDXC card in a SDHC camera but so far have found nothing.

Have asked a number of friends to search the Internet and one was able to find mention of this outside the CHDK forum by a CHDK user.

The post is "Using SDXC in SDHC camera. - Does it work? -- SUCCESS!" at

It probably one of those things you just have to try and see if it works?
