sd400_user, "Override Aperture Value" option doesn't make any change to the camera pictures. At the moment it is disabled. I did some tests and nothing changes to the picture by changing the Aperture Values from the Override. I try to make the same setup as with the SD450 and SD500 cameras.

It looks like these small cameras are without the iris (Aperture) mechanism. They are use a ND filter for this task. Some additional info can be found in these treads:
IXUS800(SD700) inside the lens images. There is a ND filter!
Build 37

If you want, you can activate the "Override Aperture Value" menu item by compiling the files. Just remove the "#undef  CAM_HAS_IRIS_DIAPHRAGM" line inside the "CAMERA_ixus50_sd400" section from the "camera.h" file located in the "chdk\src\trunk\include" folder location.

Fe50 Thanks for the legwork, and I'm embarrassed but if you look under my last post I linked to another post where I discovered the same thing. I was surprised to find it out but I did managed to find the DNG4PS2 (though not DCRAW! thanks)
The DNG4PS-2 has some bugs right now but I'm happy that it's available. For everyone else reading along I'm going to be switching over to my Windows XP partition to run Rawtherapee 2.3 which will open the CRW files without conversion.
DNG's though versatile are tied to Adobe in a proprietary file format :(

THANKS again Fe50 and THANK YOU THANK YOU to everyone!

another IXUS 50 running CHDK :-)

sorry for beeing half-off-topic
but i was searching all day long for working IXUS 50 compatible scripts - i just found "Brackting" that worked for me.
So if anyone already has found motion detection or other scripts working with IXUS 50 i'd be glad  to test them and give you a review ;-)
I'd really appreciate IXUS 50 Script Posts (or collections zipped)!!

@mproko: I love it!!

regards
McLoo

McLoo:
I have some script running: standard remote, MD, zoom sequences... can post it later, don't have it here with me.
There is a german wiki with some scripts here (on MD scripts you have to use get_prop 205 instead of 206 becaus Ixus 50 = Digic II).

Tip: Use menu "Bracketing in continuous mode" under "Extra photo operations" instead, no script needed:
Set "TV bracketing value" to 2 Ev, "Bracketing type" to +/- then use custom timer function of your ixus...

McLoo:
I think the right place for this should be here or in the wikia .
For many great informations on MD you can also search for "lightning" in this forum ;) ... attached there are some running Ixus50 scripts for first testing...

Hi there' first I want to thank for this port to my camera.

But my current problem is how to have very fast shutter. I'm currently have to use flash for it, and the problem with that is that it makes targets kinda... white... Ofcourse saving as a raw and editing with that would probably work, but that is only a probably...

Thanks

It sorta worked for me...First, you need to have enough light to use fast shutter.  Of course if there's too much light it'll be overexposed.  try putting a white paper in front of the flash or something...

Is it possible to adjust flash intensity?

firmware 101b.  Pressed Alt+Up to get Misc values (SD, NL, FL, DOF, HYP).  Then pressed half-shoot and AV and I-R values show up in Misc box.  Release Half-shoot, AV value dissapeared, but I-R value stayed as well as an extra HYP value.  (Misc box does not refresh).

Just for information:  this port seems to work also with firmware 1.05a, as posted here by jgauchia.
