Thanks, mproko!  I got it loaded on my 1.01b camera.  However, I was wondering if there was a way to do bracketing with self-timer mode?

Using the latest update for a 101b camera I'm seeing everything else run fine, but I am having issues with the Canon Raw (CRW) files it is producing.
I am saving these directly from a reader (not camera to USB) on an intel macbook pro. Neither iphoto or photoshop CS3 with all camera raw updates is capable of reading these CRWs.

please advise what you need to test or if I'm simply applying a setting incorrectly to yield working raw files.

thanks again for creating this. I love being able to tweak this out to where it's almost competition for my slr.

Thanks mproko  :D
The new trunk 005 for the 101b works fine, now with autostart, loads extremly fast :o
The standard remote.bas script is running, tested with the USB cable method.

idyll23: I shot a raw photo (with trunk 005 on 101b), converted it with dng4ps2, now it can be opened with Paint.NET, it is shown correctly in FastStone Viewer, it works with Raw Therapee (all on Windows XP)...

I think you have to convert the .crw files to DNG, i.e. with dng4ps.

waldo, I tried your script code on my camera with firmware 101a and it works fine. I tested it by connecting the camera to my PC USB port (works same as remote button). Once you unplug the cable from the PC a value appears (same should happens when you release the remote button).

I had some look in how the get_usb_power is working and there isn't much parameters or lot of code. It uses status change of the Misc value #1 which are same in both firmwares. Also I noticed that the Misc value #4 is showing the USB status and should change to 1 when the Remote button is pressed or camera is plug to a PC USB port (and the remote USB is enabled in the script menu).

Can someone else try to run the provided remote script (couple of posts before) on a camera with Firmware 101b? Normal camera USB cable can be  used for testing. Procedure will be:
- Load the script in the camera
- Enable the remote USB in the Script menu
- Start the script
- Plug the camera to a PC USB port
- After short time Unplug the camera from the PC USB port
When the camera is unplugged a text line will appear on the screen, something like "Duration: <some number>". If the cable is plugged and then unplugged again, after each unplug additional text will appear with similar content (with different number).

Thanks to everyone for testing the files.

mproko, on fw 1.01b it works as described by you - after unplugging "Duration:  xxx" is shown on my cam, misc value #4 is 0 when unplugged and 1 while plugged...

Sorry, this was my fault.  I had moved the chdk.cfg file over from another camera.  The other camera had the "USB Remote" feature enabled, but apparently that setting did work the same on the SD400 build.  I changed the setting in the menu (again) and all is well with the remote function.

Thanks again for all your work, mproko.  I've tried to do a port of my own (unsuccessfully) so I know how much work is involved.

fe50, if I place a CRW on an FTP can you grab it and attempt to open it to make sure I'm not losing my mind. I've never had an issue with either iphoto or PS-CS3 failing to recognize or open any RAW file.
Please let me know!

Thanks again!

it seems I may just be out of luck unless someone has any other suggestions.
how do I get Bridge / CS2 to accept my IXUS 950 / SD 850 RAW files!?

based on this the CRW's are not actual consistent canon raw and DNG is the only way to go.

idyll23: It seems that is is not possible to open Canon raw files directly in PS or many other programs, the only way is to convert it.
I think PS and most other Apps only support raw files from the cams with original raw support (the more expensive ones).
There are different raw file formats for Canon cameras, i've seen .crw and .cr2 (canons 2nd raw format ?), the format depends on the camera model, wikipedia says:
..."Different manufacturers use their own proprietary and typically undocumented formats, which are collectively known as raw format"...

The wikipedia article explaining this here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raw_image_format

I found some links that may be interesting for you / for other Mac Users:
  dcRAW-X for Mac OSX: http://www.frostyplace.com/dcraw/
  DNG4PS-2 Mac OS X build:  http://spebbe.googlepages.com/

No matter to loose your mind, i can do this - but i'm not working with PS, so what i can do is to open your raw file with my windows apps and report you whether it works with that...

Yorii - I looked round the file setup for the other SD cameras and it looks that most of them are built without iris mechanism. Because of this the "Override Aperture Value" item is disabled from the menu.

Amazing work mproko, Many Thanks!

Just to clarify... the 'Overide Aperture Value' option in v001 was non-functional?   I've since upgraded to v005 and deleted v001 so am unable to verify, but seem to remember briefly playing with it.  Can't recall if it worked or assumed it was 'work in progress' at that time.
