Ultimate Intervalometer - a script for shooting over a long duration - v4.9

1. I'm using the 4.1 Ultimate intervalometer on canon powershot N and did a 2-day test to take a 5-image set every 30 minutes. The camera ran non-stop (overnight) since yesterday and did not start/stop by time specified in the script interface, Am I missing anything?
There should be a log file in the top level folder of your SD card. Please post it as an attachment here?

Also, there were a few obscure bugs in the 4.1 version of the script that are fixed in 4.2. You might want to try the updated version.

2. If I use any power saving modes (LCD, BKlight, etc.) the lens would retract and the script wouldn't run so I've been using "None" to ensure that the script runs. Is there a way to use "LCD" while keeping lens projected the whole time?
I have an "N" that I can test this with on the weekend.  In the meantime, do you have camera's shot review mode turned off in the Canon menu?

@WW

The current version (4.2) is not compatible with propset 8 cameras. Setting PROPCASE_IS_MODE to a value other than 0, 1 or 2 will cause crashes. According to propset8.h, '2' means 'off'.
Reported here.
We may need to introduce a new script function or a propcase wrapper...

edit:
Checked my two propset 6 cameras. 'IS off' also corresponds to the value '2' here (0 is continuous, 1 is 'shoot only'). These cams may not crash when PROPCASE_IS_MODE is set to 3 though.

edit2:
The value '3' is also not good for propset 5 ('IS off' is 4 there).

IIRC (it was a long time ago) the reason the script tries to disable IS modes was to save battery life.  The assumption was that a camera using this script would be semi- permanently mounted and not need image stabilization.   Also, some camera instruction manual actually recommend turning it off when the camera is tripod mounted as a perfectly still camera reputedly can confused the IS logic!

Adding a script parameter to allow the user to disable using this would be easy to add.  It would also be easy to change the value used based on propcase in use, although that would be far from "future proof".

Thank you for your input. I tried the 4.2 but it didn't work on canon powershot N. I'll post the log file for 4.1 tomorrow.

I tried the 4.2 but it didn't work on canon powershot N.
Thanks for that.  The ultimate intervalometer has been downloaded over 4000 times and yours is a unique complaint.  But the Powershot N is a unique camera - that I have a bit of familiarity with.  I look forward to seeing your log file and getting this sorted out.

What do you mean by the 4.2 version of the script not working? Please be a lot more specific about what you tried and what you observed.  It's hard to debug much with just "didn't work" to go on.

Hi,
It is a unique case as I've used the same script with other cameras and had no problems at all. Please see the log file attached. The problem here was that it ran nonstop regardless of specified hours.
Regarding the 4.2 version, the script parameters do not show up in the interface, there's only one line of text under the script title that says : no chdk, assuming chd, or something like that. I see that a new version of the script has been released, I'll give that a try.

Thank you for helping,
Belal

Looking at the log, it seems you have enabled the option for shooting when the required shutter speed is faster than a user specified speed. In your case, it's set to 2 seconds. That option overrides the day/night time schedule.

As far as the 4.2 script problem goes, it sounds like your source file for the script is either corrupted or not formatted as plain text.

I have an "N" that I can test this with on the weekend.  In the meantime, do you have camera's shot review mode turned off in the Canon menu?
Tested as promised.  No problem observed - the script works properly with my Powershot N and the "default" script settings loaded.

Note : With the default settings loaded, if you run the script before 9:00 AM or after 5:00 PM (i.e. night mode) then the camera will be placed into Playback mode and the LCD will be switched off.  If you have the lens retract delay set to 0 sec in the Canon menu then the lens will retract and the camera will appear to be off.  So set the Day & Night Status LED to 0 so that the green LED on the power switch blinks to remind you that the script is actually running.

Note : script updated to v4.3.  Adds logging of all user param selections when script starts to assist with debugging user issues.

Thank you so much waterwingz. So in order to run the script according to time specified, do I need to set "shoot when Tv" to "off"? The problem is that when I set it to "off" my camera doesn't take any shots. Below is the log I got from my another camera (SD880) that I use for testing.
