No - you have to read the Lua code to figure it out.

Here you go.
The log shows you ran the script four time, each time with the power saving settings set to the same thing for both day & night modes (PlayKey).  I was sort of hoping to see what some of the other settings would do.

Once I start the script the camera tilts as soon as the energy saving kicks in. This happens with all energy saving options except "LCD" and "Backlight".
The "LCD" and "Backlight" options turn off electronics in the camera. Sounds like those work fine.

The "DispKey" , "PlayKey" , "ShrtCut" options basically simulate presses of the respective buttons on the back of the camera to try and place the camera into a "lower power" mode when not actually shooting.

The "ShrtCut" option requires you to setup the Canon shortcut action to be "sleep" or  "Display Off"

The "PlayKey" should switch the camera from shooting to playback mode in between shots.  So if by "tilts" you mean the lens retracts and the camera seems to go into playback mode, that's normal.

The "DispKey" option is really only useful for cameras with an optical view finder (OVF).  On those cameras, you can click the Display Key until the display turns off. You S95 does not have an OVF so this mode is not useful to you.

Ok, now I uploaded a more extensive log. As before, choosing PlayKey tilts the camera while ShrtCut when setting this to Display off in the camera does switch off the Display; so seems to work fine.

No, with tilt I mean that the camera is not responsive anymore and does not take pictures once the next timepoint comes. The lens stays extracted as well.
So the display off options seem to work, but the lens retraction (extended standby?) does not work. As I intend to take only a few pictures every day it would be nice to have the lens retracted...

Please get a ROMLOG: Miscellaneous stuff -> Debug Parameters -> Save ROM crash log. This should create a file named ROMLOG.LOG in the card's root directory.

Understood.  Even though the script has been downloaded several thousand times, there is always something new to learn.  I'll run it on my S100, G16, G10 and SD4000 using "Playkey" mode to see if I can reproduce the "tilt".  Might take a couple of days.

Meanwhile, posting a ROMLOG.LOG file as suggested by srsa_4c is a good idea.

Thank you. Here is the ROMLOG.LOG
One more note: This bug occurs immediately in the beginning after the script has been started and the camera wants to go to power-save for the first time. So it does not even allow the script to run for a long time.
So I am not sure if you are able to reproduce it with long term runs... I did not run into this problem with my SX10, HS220 and HS230s.

I tried playkey on the A480 & S95 and they do stop functioning.

Here is the ROMLOG.LOG
Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the script, so I can't help much fixing that.

About the log:
The last logged entry is
SS:AFL
which suggests that an attempt has been made to lock the focus. The crash (assert, to be precise) itself can be traced back to a firmware function that we identify as MakeAFScan (which is probably part of the AF lock procedure). Previous log entries suggest that the display/backlight was already off at time of crash.

The script does have AF lock related parts. I'm not sure why and how those are called when switching to playback mode.

I tried playkey on the A480 & S95 and they do stop functioning.
Upload the A480 romlog to let us see whether the crash reason is similar?
