1. Does it do this when you do not have CHDK loading? (i.e. set the SD card switch to unlocked prior to starting the camera)
Your G9 will not autoboot with that large an SD card unless it has two partition, each formatted a little differently.  What method did you use to setup CHDK on your SD card? What method do you use to load CHDK?

Reply: I did not select the function for the camera to restart every few days. I set that to 19 days to enable me to restart it whenever I go take the photos from the SD card. The way I did it was through firmware update cause I thought it was the easiest method.

2. Do I have to take out the SD card from the camera if I want to view the log file?
Practically speaking- yes.

However, you can view the file with the CHDK file viewer.  But it's much too large to do anything useful that way.  And I won't be able to see it to help you.   You can also upload the file to a PC over a USB cable if you have chdkptp on your computer.

Reply: I do not have it installed however I will install it, so that I do not have to remove the SD card from my camera. If you have some link for the installation, it may help.

I'm frankly confused by your answer. I was not asking about the script's camera restart function.  I want to know what steps and tools you used to install CHDK onto your SD card.

Reply: The way I do it is by updating the firmware from my original one to CHDK every time my camera reboots.

Reply: I have managed to obtain the log file and here it is updated. There are times when the camera shut down. I am thinking that the first time, on November 2nd it may have been a power cut. What is your opinion?

The second time I had a problem with storage since I was not realizing that my camera was automatically saving raw files. What is your take on these issues? (I believe the log file is the file named ultimate)

Okay, so you use the "Firmware Update" to load CHDK.  I understand that now.

But what I want to know is what steps and tools you used to install CHDK onto your SD card. Did you use a tool like CHIMP, or STICK, or Cardtricks, or SSMinste? Or did you just expand the CHDK distribution ZIP file to a freshly formatted SD card?

You complained about not being able to use all of your SD card.  If you used any of those tools, they may have created two partitions on the card and you are only able to use one of them.

Given that the log just stops there, having the power cut would be a reasonable explanation.  It's almost certainly not anything the script did on its own.

Congratulations! You are now another member of the CHDK User's Club for People Who Have Been Tricked by the DNG/RAW Toggle Shortcut Key.  It's a big club.  See RAW/DNG toggle in : Camera Key Usage with CHDK

In response to this thread : Script Newbie,  I've added the ability to trigger shots using a CHDK USB Remote compatible trigger device.  Download links in the first post of this tread (and on the script's wiki page).

Other bugs fixed :
  • better handling of set_lcd_display( ) on older CHDK cameras
  • handle the blinking lamp for day & night mode being the same LED

Hello,
I have been using this script auite a bit with different cameras and was very happy with it  :D
However, now I tried to do some recordings with a Canon S95 and ran into the following problem:
Once I start the script the camera tilts as soon as the energy saving kicks in. This happens with all energy saving options except "LCD" and "Backlight". The camera is then not reacting anymore and I either have to remove and re-insert the battery or long press the "Play" button (the button with the arrowhead used for displaying taken pictures) which seems to revive the camera.
Does anyone know what could be the reason? I already tried different CHDK and Ultimate Intervalometer versions without any luck...

Regards
Waechter

Please enable logging to SD card in the script parameters, rerun your tests, and post the resulting log file  ( A/ULTIMATE.LOG ) here.

Here you go.
I installed CHDK with CHIMP, in case that might be of any interest.

Thank you.
