After testing I would say it does go to the right position after start or restart and between shots, but for unknows it repositions around the shot instead of leaving it alone.
and you are right, actual zoom position is not relevant..the same zoom position for each shot is.
that is why i started asking about a delayed start of loading the script so the manual set zoom had time to re-engage. i thought that would be easyer to reach.
My cam is just a bit too human and suffers from memory loss....
