for the language tip, my doubt is linked to the fact I did not understand how to change Language in CHIMP. so assumption is that in any case, the user will have to change it, if needed through the hack.

Last but not least, list of hacks is probably too long for me to use -and understand ! - all of them 😉 More seriously the "hack" word is often misunderstood from french only speakers, but the french traduction frequently used ("pirate") is often perceived as negative.
Option could be to review translation after some users provide feedback, if any, to check wether other translation would be better ?

I had a similar problem with the Russian translation. I resorted to "third-party software".

I'm planning on releasing a new version over the weekend, which will hopefully include your translation. I wish msl were able to finish the German one as well...

I'm sorry I misunderstood your question. *.resx are compiled into satellite assemblies (CHIMP.Resources.dll), so I believe Visual Studio is your best option (unless you really enjoy using command line tools). The Community Edition is free for non-commercial use and has everything that's needed for building and debugging CHIMP.

Huuummmm I must admit I'm not good at programming 😉 So I'll focus on ubasic: that's the best I can do! keeping other tools to programers !
There is, from my perspective, no hurry to explore CHIMP furthermore. I was just wondering wether the language is set by default (from the pc config ?) or you can select it within CHIMP ?

The language is taken from the Windows setting, but it can be overridden via the /lang command line argument, e.g. /lang fr

Hi Dmitrys,
I don't really know the cause for this but I had an issue with a 2 Go card prepared for a S90 camera, for SDM use.
All the installation phase went well, but when i used the card, it was impossible to review the pictures on the card within camera. On my old XP laptop, the pc was asking to format the card before use.
In W10 I saw that many folders have been created, one for each sequence of picture (after each restart of the camera and restarting numbering from 000).
It looks like a multiple partition set up ( not really sure ??). that is surprising with a 2Go card.
I finally used my xp laptop to reinstall properly the card with assist.
I will later try to reproduce this issue, but will do this in september.

So, I tried to update CHIMP 2+ years after the last version had been released. Frankly I didn't expect so many new cameras/revisions added to CHDK - great to know the project is still alive and well!

Here is a summary of issues encountered when running the metadata generator:

Two added dancingbits encodings revealed a bug in my code that caused the last encoding to be ignored - fixed
ExifTool Canon Tags format changed - fixed
ELPH 180 IS / IXUS 175 model names missing in ExifTool - fixed in ExifTool 11.64 (thanks Phil)
ELPH 185 missing from platform name - fixed in 5258 (thanks @reyalp)
102d missing from sx280hs - fixed
g7x2 missing from camera_list.csv - fixed
Inconsistent ALT button naming - fixed

I added both g7x2 and sx280hs-102d manually, leaving the ALT buttons as is for now. You may find the updated boot.json and cameras.json in a patch added on the Release page.

If anyone is willing to check out the updated metadata generator, I moved it here. ~~Yes, it's a maintenance nightmare~~ (publishing every single dependency to NuGet was a terrible idea), but it is .NET Core 2.0, so in theory it could be added to CHDK autobuild.

Edit: Now slightly less a maintenance nightmare.
Edit: Upgraded to .NET Core 2.0 (console logging).

Although this feature was planned for 0.9.0, it currently requires a significant effort to implement. It will be done eventually, of course.

The issue of not being able to use CHIMP for unofficial builds has come up several times in the last two years. Which is quite often given the fairly low volume of new users joining the project.

Yes, I am aware of this issue. Unfortunately, I'm not currently available to provide a major CHIMP update.

I did read and understand the status of the G7 X Mark II port.

The addition of a camera to CHIMP only means that once it is supported by CHDK no change to CHIMP would be required.

Until then, the only difference from the user's perspective is the ability to proceed to the Action step. I attached two screenshots to demonstrate the two scenarios.

The source of truth for supported ports is the 'camera_list.csv' file, not the 'platform' directory structure.

If you use that, as other programs do, then your perceived problem goes away - new cameras will be available if / when they get added to the file.

I updated CHIMP to support all future revisions/versions of known cameras.

Please try the attached version and let me know if you encounter any problems.

Please note that this version requires .NET framework 4.6.1 (or later).

I don't know what further details there are for usage - but I start the program with the SD card in the computer (to install CHDK) and I get the error:
Detecting Card - Error, Value cannot be null, Parameter name Key

I often used the '2019' version, saved a lot of time. 😀 Maybe it works better on older setups. (At least for the older camlist.)

Using CHIMP to download CHDK for various cameras I find that getting files from the CHDK source gives an error message and fails. Setting the download source to CHDK-DE works successfully. I tried this with several cams and results were the same

Looks like the ssl cert on mighty-hoernsche.de has expired, I pinged hacki. FWIW, you can manually download english-default builds from https://build.chdk.photos/
