i add my thanks to those of brianoh, so far the camera works excellent with the new features (and yes, overriding shutter speed is for real, the simplest way to verify it is to shoot at 64 seconds - which i did last night)
on the other hand though, it have to say that my camera crashed once, after i've checked the option "params" from "debug data display". after that (following some advice) i had to delete a certain file from the card and after inserting it back the camera started functioning again. then i've checked "none" at the "debug data display" option (as adviced by someone on chat irc channel).
but apart from that single problem, so far
a590is works excellent!
one more thing: ive noticed that on shooting mode, changing the shutter speed in chdk panel has no effect on the brightness of lcd screen. but even though chdk is enabled, the screen gets lighter or darker if i change shutter speed from usual
a590is buttons correspondingly (which is normal). also, if using those normal
a590is buttons i reach 15 sec shutter speed (maximum default at a590is), if i then lower the shutter speed from chdk commands up to 64 seconds - the lcd screen remains the same, it doesnt get brighter. so, dont expect the screen brightness to react to chdk shutter speed specific settings.
