I've just opened my SX10, checked the firmware and it's 1.02B not much of a surprise really, I wasn't expecting to be able to use CHDK any time soon.

The number of buttons on the camera tells me I'll have plenty of time playing around with the standard features before I feel the need to add anything new.

To save time and effort to anyone who might try: I tried loading the existing CHDK version for SX10 on a camera with 1.02B, and it failed. I expected it would work at least partially, but it just made the screen go black and the camera freeze until the batteries were taken out.

I have downloaded both firmware dumps just to find out that the 1.01b is twice the size ... am I missing something? 😳

I'd like to do exactly as same as beez for firmware 1.00C, that's mine ... but is it the real way to make a different chdk for another firmware? compare the dumps?

Hello, when a 430EXII flash is used on the SX10, the flash doesn´t use its own AF assist beam, just the cameras AF, wich is horrible in low light conditions. No matter what I try, the AF beam on the flash simply just not work, all other functions are ok.

Does anyone know if with CHDK this limitation can be supressed??

Probably the zeros were not trimmed from the 1.01b dump.

It might be a good exercise to also compare 1.01b with 1.02b. The displays from ver/vers.req are almost the same, maybe one port will work with both.

I uploaded the 1.00c firmware back in march and it's been on the wiki page since. No one has had the time to do it I guess. I'm still hopeful some awesome kind soul gets to it! 😀

I think us SX10 ver 1.02B owners will have to pledge money to a fund to raise enough money to buy a new SX10 that will hopefully be 1.02B (From what I read the new ones are.) and give it to one of the developers to work with. In exchange for his time and effort he gets to keep the camera. I know his time is worth more than that but hopefully he'll enjoy the task. It's the only way to give a developer vested interest to get this ball rolling until it's finished. Right now there doesn't seem to be any development started for SX10 1.02B, just a F.W. dump. I'd be willin' to gamble with $20 to get this CHDK ball rollin'.
It wouldn't be a bad idea for a forum to be created just for the purpose of doing this. Have a thread for every F.W. to tally the pledges and when there's enough an email sent to each pledger to make the contribution to a PayPal acct. A known developer would receive the camera to work with and when the final CHDK is finished he could keep the camera or sell it to get something for his time. No guarantee would be possible in return for the pledge ect.....

Hi Joe,

I understand what you propose, but I am not changing that rule. The community is very active and will probably sort it out, eventually (this is me being optimistic on this).

I am really sorry, but I really do not want to the forum to be related to any funding (for developing or hosting).

I would recommend you to create a blog about this on spaces, blogspot or something like that, and point the discussion thread there.

This is too bad to shoot sports using SX1's default VIDEO settings which caused
MOTION BLUR !!!!! (which CAN NOT be voided using it's stupid IS lens)

IS Lens reduced hand shake, not motion blur.

That's why the demand for SHUTTER SPEED OVERRINDG is extremely begged.

It would be great to shoot using ISO 400 or higher, and f/MIN (2.😎 and HIGHER SHUTTER is R for Sports shooting HD Video.
Even the mode set to SPORTS, the Video taken still followed this SH*T range.

I wish someone came do something to fix this.

I don't know where to post this. Is there a script to force the SX10 above the standard 1.4fps or is this purely hardware related?

Yes

Download the "complete" CHDK package from the CHDK Autobuild server and expand (unzip) ALL files & folders to the root of your SD card; use a standard/"normal" card reader for this.
Power on your camera with the PLAYBACK [>] button, press MENU, scroll down & select "Firmware Update..." to start CHDK...

Hi jcmoraes,
if the blue print LED blinks and you see the additional battery OSD, CHDK is successfully loaded...

- To change from playback mode to record mode just press (or half-press) the shutter once.
- With the PRINT/SHORTCUT button you can enable the <Alt> mode, then press the MENU button to enable the CHDK mani menu...

There's als a End Users Guide / UserGuide 2009 (pdf) available...
