anyway, withouth further ado, my post:

hey everyone

i've been lurking on this forum for a while now and been happily fooling around with CHDK, until now Sad
i've been taking some nighttime shots, with my ixus 85 IS, of a friends car for him today, and everything has been working super good. until, after roughly two hours of taking photos, when we wanted to review all the shots we've taken we noticed that the biggest part of them was missing.

i was super bummed and had no idea what and why it happened.

i think i took way more than 100 pictures and only 48 where visible in the cameras playback mode and on my macbook.

as mentioned in the topic already the card is fat16 formatted and 4gb in size. after checking how much space is still free on the card and checking how much space the taken pictures took up i have to assume that the "missing" pictures are still on the card somewhere. there are still way more than 200mb of data on the sdhc card and the 48 visible images only take up about 100mb.

so the big question is: where the hell are my pictures?
they HAVE to be on there somewhere, i just cant see them. neither in osx, nor in windows. and i'm running out of ideas Sad

i hope i'm just missing something insanely stupid and none of the pictures are lost.

any help is insanely appreciated!

I've been testing this CHDK version, and it works really well. 😀
My camera crashed, i don't know why, but now it's working another time. I've recently found something strange; when I select the option"startup sound" and turn on the camera, it doesn't stop ringing!!
I wouldn't know how to check this bug, but i just tell you.

I have 8gb sdhc card so I made one small 2mb fat partition with diskboot.bin file on it and another space is another fat32 partition. Everything works fine but I don't know how to switch from chdk menu to another partition because active is only this 2mb and there is no enough space for photos. Does the build from post 36 have multipartition support ?

This video is about instaling chdk on standard SD card. I have 8gb SDHC card with one fat32 partition so I made two partitions one bottable 2MB Fat12 with chdk image and rest FAT32. chkd cannot boot from fat32 partitions only from fat partitions. And fat partitions cannot be larger than 4(2)gb.

You can find diskboot.bin for sd770 or ixus85is it in reply #39 by sharky.
The use SD1100 and substitue diskboot.bin

Hi

Sorry if this sounds very noobish but i am totally new to all this.
ive downloaded the boot file from post 39 and i have downloaded the files for the camera named a few posts above and substituted the boot file.
I then get the firm update option on my camera and is says firmware error when i try to use it.

I have 1.00A firmware on my camera and couldnt find a 1.00A for the other camera so used the 1.00C as i thought this was the closest.
Could this be the problem and if so where can i get the correct files?

Do not use that method of firmware update.
Just write protect your SD and then boot your camera.
It will load the new firmware

If I understand right, it isn't yet possible to do timelapse using CHDK on this camera. Is that right?

I'm interested in doing timelapse movies of the stars using long, i.e. 64 seconds, exposures.

i'd like to bump this aswell.

i've been using chdk with my ixus85is for some time now, and so far it's working just great. but as far as i know the most up to date available build for the ixus85 is still 0.9.0.
is there ANYTHING newer out yet or am i just blind? 😁

timelapse is possible on the ixus 85 already, you just need to get a script for it. i've been experimenting with it a little bit and for me it worked. if you need any help with it, feel free to pm me, maybe we can work it out somehow.
