I must be really stupid or there is something I really don't understand but all of this talk about Raw, DNG, CRW and all really has nothing to do with all of these crashes (for me anyway). If I go with the experience that I have with all those crashes, Raw was never ever enabled in any of the crash but the camera crashed anyway. Like I said previously and I will say it again....I have stopped having these crashes ever since I start the camera with the start button and holding it for a period of approximately 1..5 seconds.

Sorry if I can't be of any help to you guys but all this talk about Raw being at fault, I thought I should let you know that in my case, that was never even turned on at the time of the crash.

I have the same problem, push quik on the button the scrensaver is turns on and than camera is crashes-turn off. If i hold the button for a second its normaly works...
Another problem option save raw with jpg- It always create a new folder and doesnt show shots- just say that there is no foto... I think evrybody have this problem...
And problem about acselerometr it doesnt work correctly....
Next/ sometimes chdk menu simply crach/ if acselerometr rotate foto chdk menu scips/ if i push "menu" to exit from chdk alt is on but it doesnt show it, and i push shot and begins problems/

I wanted to know if you found something with problrm when starting the camera in the last compilations.
Even I have problems even with the latest compilation.

I'm using this build with no problem - (sx20-102b-r969-full.zip) - that "ultimA" downloaded here in the forum .

I sincerely would like to help detect this problem, I could not or not understand well how to make the romlog.
In romlog, the camera freezes and no leaves file in memory (so sorry little knowledge or very stupid to understand romlog).

Unfortunately, that problem has not been solved yet. Romlog didn't work for me either. It just keep crashing the camera, I would also like to know how others are coping with this issue.

One thing I have noticed is that no new version has been added since January 30th (1054). Usually, there would be a new version every few days so I am wondering if they are working on something to fix these crash or not. But I am not holding my breath about this because no new post has been added since a long time and you were the first today.

Yes!, little activity in the forum "Winter Vacation", the snow... I do not think that the delay version is for this reason.

I read the instructions found on the page of CHDK romlog but my poor understanding of English
is leaving aside some detail.
I use the script "romlog" and the camera freezes, I leave that state for 5 minutes I turn off the camera and look in memory to see some file "romlog.txt" NOTHING 🙁( I tested with 2GB memory on a single partition... NOTHING.
For me, CHDK is working inside the camera (sx20) on the edge of memory or *"Diskboot.bin" 263.809 bites Too big to accept camera with images loaded into memory?*.
* In another forum for another camera (not CHDK Powershot cameras), had this problem *.
little knowledge of programming, possibly I'm wrong if so, I apologize.
Por now, I'm using well "sx20-102b-r969-full.zip" on my camera runs very stable.
Yes!, we have to wait, they find the experts of CHDK.

i reduce the value to (100) and no crash i get since a week even if i have a 8 gb card with many pics, so that the camera need in play mode long to get ready

Sorry to ask but where do I install this command? Even though I haven't had any problem since I have found that by holding the start button for more than one second, I am curious too see if your command would work so in what folder do i install this?

He knows how to do it, not for us, apparently, it worked in another camera with similar problem "Canon IXUS 1000".

Bernd R: thank you for your patch. Seems that it helps me with my sx10 boot crash issue. At least few days i didn't notice any crash with this patch.

The command do only a wait for 1 sec and continue then.nothing can explode-

Is here nobody who can compile with that patch in ?
if not, i see in chdk shell i have switch for SX20 102b 102d

If this patch work on a camera that crash frequently, its possible a better fix can do.

because this function call sit on too early place.

Apologies!!!... was a joke for "wowsers51", I do not try to compile, I have not enough knowledge to do. Surely if I compile, I do it wrong, this is delicate.
I have no doubt that your patch works!!! <-- YES!, would be great if someone here, someone with knowledge of CHDK for SX20 = "acid2000; neszt; ultimA etc." try to view this topic they know how to do.
vtysh arrange with your patch the boot problem in a SX10 !!!
As wowsers51, I stay out of this, because,... as seen...unfortunately I can not help much.

Thanks for the effort for installing the command in this newest version (1066). But it didn't work for me because the first time I try to start the camera it crashed. It started fine on the second attempt but I then tried to run one of my favorite script (mint.lua) which is an intervalometer script and that script just wouldn't run. 🙁

It kept saying that there was an error. So I then removed that newest version and reinstalled an older one (1050) and my script work just fine. 😳

Have you tried loading some scripts with it? For me, the Intervalometer script doesnt work.
