You cannot use the 8MB card without partitioning it.

If your card is formatted FAT16 and inserted in the card reader sdminst.exe will make it bootable.

At the very least it should also tell you if the card is initially not bootable.

New Install is for SDM.

One final thing, making your card bootable does not add ANY files to it.

Does sdminst.exe say your card is bootable ?

You must copy the CHDK DISKBOOT.BIN to the card and lock it.

Sorry, I just got home. Workn 7 days 10 &12 eats up some time! I did get what you said so far. i Have the Canon S95 booting to 1.85. The viewfinder show CAMremote & <ALT> on the bottom. So far the CAMremote with a 8-button Radio Control RC-8 for CAMremote-2 doesn't Function properly. does't ZOOM but does seem to trigger shutter. Doesn't really work like the 4th from the bottom page...

Well, if it displays CAMremote at the bottom, the script has loaded.
If you examine the script with a text editor you will see that is the @title parameter.

Also, in the script after the last 'rem' statement put this :-

I was refering to the fouth from the last page in the PDF. I't s chart in green that shows what button does what. Like #7 shoots. #5 & #6 should ZOOM the camera.... etc. Just to make sure I would like to know the link to the script that I should be using before adding this CODE you mentioned...

No, you misunderstand.

It is an additional uBasic statement, it needs to be on a new line :-

okay, Got it added to script. turn on camera with previewer button. Go in menu and load script then exit menu at CAMremote-SDM <ALT> on bottom I press shutter button to run script and then it shows... CR:USB/CHDK+ in left middle of screen and CAMremote-SDM <ALT> is still on bottom. T ried pressing remote button on hand held and camera blacks out but still on.

Makes no difference for zooming and shooting.

Button #5 and #6 blacks out screen. Only way to get viewfinder back is to press power button. nothing will zoom. should I always click to enable the <alt> then press the shutter button to run script each time I turn the camera on?

If <ALT> is displayed at bottom of screen you just press the shutter button to start AND stop script.

Try changing 'synch_off' to 'sync_off'

I am going to bed very shortly ..

Too late .. but in the meantime copy the following as a simple, unformatted text file :-

@title Test
while 1
do
a = get_usb_power
until a>0
print a
wend
end

Rename as test.bas and copy to Scripts folder.

Load and run script.

Press each controller button and note value of 'a' (it will vary slightly for any particular button).

No luck. It just kind of does what it wants and don't follow suit pressing buttons. I will keep trying different things. Thanks
