Looking at that. Yes you are right. I did have that posted.

David, I first shot a photo with button 7. Then I press 8+1 and nothing happen or showd on the screen. then I tried to shoot a photo with button 7 again and camera blank'd out. I resarted it. Even holding 8+1 ended up blanking the camera out.

Okay, I shoot a photo first just to see... then I press 8+7 and it does switch to movie mode and starts to video [REC] by itself. When I press 8+7 for the second time to stop video it does stop and leaves the camera at a movie's screen shot image with <ALT> Movie at the bottom of screen. (I found it's best to maybe press the #8 then the #7 button instead of pressing both at the same time for 8+7. if you happen to press the #7 before the #8 it would trigger the 7 button instead of 8+7.
anyways when I press 8+7 for the thrid time it does take me back to photo mode, but it does a normal focus with the white square box to green in the viewfinder the takes a photo but it's VERY SLOW to take the photo but it makes it through it and your back to the photo mode. I did switch back and forth a few times.

It also takes a quick photo on the way back to movie mode for the second try back to movie mode... and the RECORD is not automaticlly. but i can press #7 and it starts up the can toggle back with 8+7

It sounds like you're getting there!

@Freeflow - You should almost be able to tell which buttons the camera "thinks" were pressed by looking at those "A" numbers. For example, if you press 1 on your remote, the "A" numbers should be a low number (less than 100). If you press 8+1 (or 8 then 1, however it works), the numbers should be higher (larger than 100). Try that a few times and let me know what actually works for the button combo. Whatever it is, I'm sure the procedure is the same every time.

From what you just described, it sounds like it's 8 then button, rather than 8 and button.

One question I have, is can I enable the viewfinder to stay ON while the Mini USB cable is plugged into the camera? I need to plug in the MiniUSBCable in order to interface the camera to the CAMremote. Soon as you plug it in the viewfinder goes blank. I have the audio end of the cable ( http://vp-systems.eu/order_cable.html plugged into the Video Input of a portable DVD player to see my screen.

Someone else can probably answer that better than me, but I am REALLY curious as well. I built this ->
http://www.achillies.com/CHDK_Files/USB_Splitter.htm because I had the same problem and couldn't find anything else that worked. I have a different cam though, so I won't speculate too much.

I will let you know them #'s you asked me about. Yeah after pressing on all them button I could see that you really need to press 8 then add a press to the second button like the 7. Remember that you really have 5 seconds to do this in before you hold into profile mode on the 6th second.

Well Mark, here we are again.

First task, let us sort out once-and-for-all the pulse widths that each buttons produces.

You now know how to use the combination buttons.
Button 8 on its own does not generate a pulse.

Using test.bas, press each single button and then 8 + each button.

Report the range of pulse widths.

Not sure about 8+5.

Are you saying the pulse varied from 3 to 9 or 333 to 777 ?

Hi there 😀

I would be most grateful if you could help me with a problem I'm having with my S95 and a remote trigger. All the details are here:

But basically I'm seeing a 4-second delay between taking a photo and returning to record mode (1 second on a standard SD card), and if I hold down the shutter button in continuous shooting mode, the camera takes 1 photo, waits 5 seconds, takes another, then crashes!

Any input would be most appreciated, as this is the last problem I have to iron out on my photography platform before I can say it's 'finished'!

Hi Hogster! Are you running any scripts or anything? It sounds like a long exposure time, but could be lots of other things. How much memory is reported in CHDK?

@freeflow.. thanks for those values.. they're not as consistant as I was hoping, but at least each button sends out different numbers (pulsewidths) the way it should!

8+5 makes no sense at all.
That should be the power-off function with a pulse-width of 745 msec.

What about 8+1 to 8+4 ?
