Thanks for your reply! At the moment this is without any scripts selected (the camera is using a CHDK-enabled card, but just sitting in the standard record mode, with no CHDK menus active). However, I also have a script that's detailed in this thread:

which looks for a 5V pulse on the USB pins of a certain length, then runs a simple 'shoot' sub-routine ... but even when using this, the performance is the same - it triggers to take the picture, then seems to wait for 4 seconds before taking me back to the record screen.

Under 'Show memory info' it says:

Free Memory: 378600 bytes
CHDK size: 281024 bytes
loaded at: 0x16EE30

Could you load the cr1.bas (the script you just got for CHDK) and try again?

fudgey has hit the nail on the head in the thread I linked to! 😁 I had the 'Save RAW' checkbox checked ... I've now deselected it and it works as well as with an ordinary SD card!

Could you load the cr1.bas (the script you just got for CHDK) and try again?

Is there a new file at that same link to download that you modified?

@hogster - Yes indeed, these people are great. They are some of the most knowledgeable and helpful people, and despite the multitude of projects they are working on, are always willing to help.

Without fudgeys Fast motion script, I still wouldn't have any pictures of lightning, and soon I'll be able to take 3D/stereo pictures thanks to Microfunguy.

@freeflow - thank you for those numbers.. and no, I have not modified any scripts. I just wanted to see if these values changed with the script that linnar told you to use. again, wait for microfunguy's go ahead.

So, 19 is produced by both !

That is not good.

Do not test any other script.
We can only do one thing at a time.

I will now look at the existing script again.

Yes on the CHDK+. I will double check. Is there a way to bring it up on the screen to make sure? After testing again it does overlap on the 8+1 and 8+2

In order to check which profile you ar eusing you'll need to hook your CR up to the PC and run the configuration program (that lets you make the profiles).

Make sure you set all of the profiles to CHDK for now. Save to Camremote, Then report back. Again wait for MFG BEFORE you do this..

8+1 is mostly 18/17 but will bring up a 19 every so often (7 to 10 try's...)

8+2 is mostly 20/21 but will bring up a 19 every so often and I've seen an 18 once....

I should have said in order to see what configuration your profile is, you need to use your PC. I thought you were supposed to be using the USB/CHDK method for now (because of the longer timing spacing), but there are so many posts to catch up on.

Thats right, I forgot. My LEDs are set to R - - so I am on the first profile and it is CHDK+

I only have three rows in the test.bas on screen and took a while to figure out that two #'s were rolling up on button 5 & 6 only when I use them with the #8 button. I then click 8+5 saw the move. then i click just the 7 button so it would have a #1 on screen then I re-clicked the 8+5 again and so on. this way I could see the two numbers roll up that #1 on the three lines show on the screen.

So i'm thinking now I didn't see the #'s rolling up in the CHDK+

Just to let you know I'm using the USB cable to connect the CR to the camera. so when I plug it in the cable blacken outs the screen so I have the 1/8" video connect on that cable plugged into my mini DVD player so I can see the camera screen. The numbers on the DVD screen are right on the left edge. I sure that the numbers I see are that and not more digits being cut off. I am very sure of that since all other items on screen are inside the edges of the monitor.
Is there a way to turn the camera screen on with the USB cable plug in?

Thinking out loud here.. It's close now. Microfunguy probably knows all of this already.

zoom in = button 5=18-19 (correct)
zoom out =button 6=25-27 (correct)
shoot 7= button =1-2 (correct)

Tv+== button 8+1=49-52 (correct)
Tv-== button 8+2=56-58(correct)
Av+== button 8+3=43-46 (NO - correct for AV-)
Av-== button 8+4=38-40 (NO - correct for AV+)
Power off = button 8+5 = 19 (NO - just no)
Close Lense = button 8+6= 58-70 (correct - no function?)
start/stop record = button 8+7 = 32-55? (Almost. Alternating presses send different pulse widths- Start ok, stop not long enough)

At this point, with the setup you have now and the way it is working, you should be able to zoom in and out, shoot, and change Tv values. Av values are switched (easy fix) and the start/stop button has me confused.
I still think you guys are close.
