I will wait for reports from users of the 1.00H version before making any changes to the 1.00H version.

yes 1.00h boots up and works so far - in a short test of some functions I found out that edge overlay does not display on the whole screen - edges are displayed only on the lower half of the screen - not sure if this is a 1.00h issue or os present in 1.00e too.

hi!

did a quick test on this version and found some that doesn't work:
1. TV bracketing
2. optical zoom (disabled digital zoom)
3. color histogram -- only shows grey
4. battery percent icon delayed
5. shutter speed override (tested 64sec exposure, result same as 15sec)

Just got my S95 and been having a play with this, big thanks tp all the team for creating it. Took me a good few goes to do it on a mac but then tried formatting the cards in camera first and it worked no problem. Should the camera always start in playback mode? or do i need to change a setting?

I have this script as startup to get out of preview mode. I really dont know why it starts in preview.

Yes, that's the usual behaviour on cameras without a mechanical record/playback mode switch.
Press (or half-press) the shutter button once to switch to record mode...

When switching the camera on, HOLD the "On/Off" button for 2 seconds, and it will start you in record mode.

The S95 has manual focus built-in so the CHDK manual focus is disabled.
As far as I know, ISO, Av and Tv overrides are working.

No, only expo_param_override is implemented in capt_seq.c

Bracketing (of all kinds) does not work, probably due to not implementing capt_seq.c
I tested shutter override at 64 seconds - that works OK on 100E, but I'll check the 100H version again.

I'm speaking about manual focus while recording movies (same goes for ISO, Av and Tv overrides, they don't work in movie mode)
there are scripts, but they don't work 😉

Yes, it's so different I can't even find where I would add patches to the code. Feel free to have a look - I've given up on trying to do this myself. Maybe when other new cameras are ported I can get some ideas from those ports.

I misread the code, there is not a very big chunk commented-out.

Do you correctly detect the presence of a voltage on the USB ?

I may be able to have a look at the firmware but it is no so convenient on this PC.
It will be next week before I receive a replacement power-supply for my main PC.
Basically, we are looking for the last point in the code before the photo is actually captured.

Enable the USB remote switch and put a jump to the wait_until_remote_button_is released() in the early part of the capture task.

Connect camera to PC, the debug led should light and image-capture will pause until you disconnect from PC.

You can then try putting the jump in later parts of the code.

If you find just before the point where the photo is taken that is where you also insert the jump to the raw noise-reduction code.

Maybe you have to copy a bigger chunk of the Canon capture code ... which is a bit tedious.

Thanks for all of the hard work everyone.

I have build 6 working quite well on my 1.00E build S95 with a 2 partition 8gb card created with sdminst.exe. If I start up the camera by pushing and holding the on/off button for 2 seconds, then everything works great. If the camera is started by a quick press and release of the power button, or holding the play button, only the 2mb partition is available for recording. My wife keeps forgetting to start it correctly. Is there anything I can change in the configuration to fix this?

DCRAW now covers S95: Just add this line to dcraw.c along with the other camera definitions:

{ "Canon PowerShot S95", 0, 0,
{ 13610,-5487,-1268,-1373,9773,1601,-824,1545,3772 } },

and voila, you now have raw support for the S95! Thanks Dave Coffin for the quick work, on a holiday weekend no less! I've only looked at a few of my shots so far; I think the colors are a bit more accurate than the in-camera JPEG, at least with the default settings I had.

Sorry for any confusion. DCRAW is not part of CHDK source code, it is an independent RAW file converter written by Dave Coffin. See also: http://www.cybercom.net/~dcoffin/dcraw/

To tell the truth I have not yet tried CHDK on my S95 yet, but I can tell you that you can get better image quality using the RAW .CR2 file format output, than you do with the default in-camera JPEG files.

At the risk of derailing the thread, is there any advantage to using DCRaw rather than the free Lightroom? I've been using that with the s95's raw files and the results are excellent.
