Hi folks, Im looking for some help with this camera.

Ive downloaded the sd30 chdk file for the correct firmware 1.00G, but after several formats and memory cards the message "Update file error" appears each time. I have a feeling I should be using the sd40 version for the i7 but I cant find it anywhere, only a link from a wiki back to the file I've been trying

Hi Tux74, welcome to the forum.

Bad news, i'm afraid: the ixus i7 firmware has been dumped (see here: http://chdk.setepontos.com/index.php/topic,288.msg17580.html#msg17580) but has never been ported

And it's very unlikely that a CHDK version for another camera (i.e ixus izoom / sd30) will work on it.

Check here http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/Adding_support_for_a_new_camera to get an idea what it takes
to port a cam.

Ah I see, thanks for the prompt reply whim. Am I correct in thinking the i5 is supported, might have to acquire my sisters old camera !

If i5 = izoom = SD30 then yes

(Really annoying, this Canon habit of giving their cams a different name on each continent )

What's not there is either unsupported, or in various stages of being ported
