Need a dump for A3400 IS

I'm having trouble dumping my A3400 with uDumper, even though my SD card is prepared. It boots to a blank screen (normal) and never writes to the empty.dum file. I'm using CardTricks v1.44 to prepare my 1GB card. The card is in the locked state which it's supposed to be in.

Alternatively, does anyone have a dump for 1.01b for this particular camera?

Not sure what else you are doing but the card needs to be unlocked for firmware dumping.

You should not try to use the cardtricks udumper, it doesn't work on any camera released in the last 3+ years. Use the canon basic dumper instead:

Don't use the cardtricks udumper method.

reyalp suggested to use the canon basic dumper. Believe, it does not requires CHDK.

Believe it or not, Canon include a BASIC interpreter with every P&S camera. You don't need CHDK to use it - hence the name Canon BASIC uDumper. Unfortunately, the language is pretty limited, missing (amongst other things) the ability to have the camera take a picture.

I realise this now that nafraf cleared that up through PM. I'll get back here when I get a chance to try it tomorrow, and if I can get the dumper and my planned port to work, then I'll contribute them both. I still have no clue why 1.01a and 1.01b are different enough to break a build of CHDK completely?

Its hit or miss whether CHDK for one f/w version will work with a different f/w version. One small change low in memory is all it takes for it not to work.
