I've now tested the script on three different cameras - an S100, a G10, and an ancient A560.   Using the default setting the display shuts off after the 5th shot is taken and stays off for all subsequent shots.

What version of CHDK are you using?  In the CHDK menus, go to Miscellaneous Stuff and select Show Build Info. Please report on the CHDK Ver: and Revision: values reported there.

Sorry - don't own a Mac.  There is always google though, which gives this as the first hit : http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/33252/time-lapse-assembler

I've tested the script on a couple more camera models using different shooting modes and the LCD display blanking worked fine on all of them too.

So I've got one last thing to try - a short delay between the shoot( ) command and setting the LCD state to off.   Updated script attached : aef_lock.lua

In case that does not work, I've attached a version of the script that uses the code msl suggested. It should work on any camera with an OVF.  aef_lock2.lua

I also fixed up the ND filter logic.

Sorry for not responding, I've been ill. Both of the scripts work perfectly with my A720 IS. I've been unable to go outdoors to do a test so today I shot our ceiling fan in our family room to test them. I'm a 100% satisfied and want to thank you again for assisting me. I did a quick render in QuickTime Pro and here are the results. The shot interval was 2 secondsI and rendered @30fps. I can't wait to feel better so I can explore the world of time lapse even further. http://youtu.be/ztli9D7CP4w

Welcome to my ongoing vote for the #1 annoyance in CHDK default setup.  Fortunately there is a way to disable it.

In the CHDK menus,  go to CHDK Settings -> Menu Settings and disable the option that say  Show <ALT> Help Screen [ * ]

Not a request, just curious.

Is it possible to modify the aef_loc2.lua you generated for me to allow the A720IS to zoom? As it works now, the focal length is fixed.
