Thanks for the quick answers wim! I want to make sure you know I am appreciative, who knows how long until I would have had time to sift through the info! Even though I don't know enough to make full use, I appreciate all of the obvious efforts you have made! I was so happy just to find out there was a way to save in RAW format, the rest is just a bigger gift!

I can't thank you and anyone else who was a part of this enough.. even the many people testing it. You all are great.

am i missing something about where the chdk file is in reply #94? other than ma_jk not calling it stable, i do not see a link.

So, i made up code for sdhc support. havent created yet a card for test... gotta switch to linux and see if i can create the necessary structure:
- a small fat16 partition at the begining
- a fat32 on the remaining space.

anyone with 100e who wants to try this?

The new diskboot.bin seems to have a funny effect: Putting it to a 512 MB card w/ one FAT16 FS (no partitioning), and it made the display to go away e.g. 1 second after switching from review to camera mode (or switching on in camera mode and waiting for chdk to start). This effect even remains after replacing with the original diskboot.bin. Will investigate it a bit the next days.

I've got an 8gb SD. I've got it partitioned properly. CHDK boots just fine, but does not seem to recognize the second partition. It is only showing me 24mb free, which is my first partition. I'm brand new to the CHDK world, so I don't know if I'm supposed to change a setting in CHDK for it to recognize it. From looking over the wiki it looks like it should just load the larger partition.

If you've got a build for the 101b that addresses the partition issue, send it my way and I'll try it.

but now i have again that vertical column of figures on the screen, and the histogram is blinking - forgot how to get rid of that

as another newbie, remember this is beta, and many items have not been addressed yet if ever, your best bet IS to read the help files, as many of your questions allready have answers. search...

I everybody,

I have a A590IS and I tried to put this CHDK Beta software in my camera, but something as failed.

The firmware of my camera is 1.0.1.0

I have downloaded the file "a590is-101b-0.6.2-full.zip" and the CardTricks, formatted the SD with the CardTricks and put the file - I have fallowed all the steps of the help file online ....

When I turn on the camera I have access to the CHDH menus, but in the LCD of the camera there is always a transparent box with a list of numbers from 0 to 9 or 10 .... that never disappears, and it make things a little beat difficult to see.

Can you tell me what I have done wrong and how can I solve this?

...the other thing:

the vertical colum is a debug display. Use the 'direct print' button to enter 'Alt' mode, press the 'menu' button and navigate to the 'debug parameters'. In there, you switch 'debug data display' to 'none'. Voilà.

You need to turn off "debug info":
<ALT>-Menu -> Debug parameters -> Debug data display [ None]

1) Is there a way to speed up in-camera file writing of the RAW file, such as, not having an associated JPEG, or any other way?
2) Is there someplace that discusses the CHDK variances for Video. The quality ratings ie 84, etc are confusing.

1)To speed up RAW writing you need a faster SD card: its just a matter of transfering about 10mb of data.
2)video functions are not implemented yet..that menu has no use, for now.

I have a SanDisk Ultra II 4GB SDHC card (because I didn't feel like paying the extra for an Extreme III) and I don't have any noticeable delay in RAW writes, seems just the same as JPEG only...
