Keep in mind that not everything is the same on every camera. Even if the wiki is correct for some particular camera (which you should not assume!), only experiment can verify whether it is correct on your camera.

Thanks, I'll remember that from now on. I guess its just best to take a note of the used values, and edit the exif when you get home.

Once you've characterized how things work on your particular camera, you can rely on the exif fields you've determined to be reliable 😉

I've confirmed that shutter overrides do not work in some shooting modes if Servo AF is on. I tried changing prop case 299 (servo AF) to 0 inside shooting_expo_param_override but that did not help. Searching the board, I see that some other cameras also do this, so I guess the work-around is to not use servo AF if you want to use overrides or to switch to M mode.

Hi I'm new here! Just got CHDK on my 3hour old S95. I have a small problem that some people have highlighted about the camera booting into the smaller partition instead of the bigger one. The solution suggested was to hold the on/off button to boot directly into record mode. Is there a more permanent solution to this issue?

"Hi new here to this forum. I've tried searching around for a solution to my problem but I can't seem to find much on it. I know s95 is not a officially supported camera yet but i doubt this issue has anything to do with the model of my camera.

I'm a mac user and used the SDMInst application as suggested in the MAC FAQ of the wiki (http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ/Mac). I have a 8gb card so it creates two partitions in my card, one 16mb for the diskboot.bin and PS.FI2 and the rest for my photos, which is about 7plus GB.

However when I load CHDK on my s95 it only reads the 16mb partition and says I can only take 5 photos. I believe CHDK is supposed to read the diskboot.bin file from the smaller partition and use the bigger partition for my photos and videos.

I have managed to find a temp solution to this issue by moving the CHDK folder from the smaller partition to the larger one in my mac. This then allows the camera to read the bigger partition. HOWEVER, everytime i switch off the camera, it only reads the smaller partition once again. I believe the thing here that is triggering this issue is that once there is a CHDK folder in the smaller partition, it will read only that partition.

Am I doing something wrong here? Can anybody point me in the right direction.

Solution is simple: put only diskboot.bin on the small, and all other files on the large partition
edit: since cam is still in beta, I should probably add: "if multi partition support is available for S95"

as Whim says, perhaps multi-partition support is not working on the s95. Although it's certainly not ideal, there is another way out. The latest version of SDMInst for the Mac lets you choose the size of the small partition. You could make it 4Gb - that way you'd at least be able to take more than 5 photos!

Hello, I have one question to the lot of specialists here...

Currently the original S95, when using RAW+JPG, ignores the custom color setting for storing the JPG.
For example, if you define contrast -2 and shoot JPG only, you get contrast -2.
But if you shoot RAW+JPG, you get the *default contrast 0* for the JPG.
This means you get different JPG results for
JPG mode and RAW+JPG mode, which in turn means that you can't use the additional RAW
as a fallback for when the JPG isn't good enough.
Now the question: Is CHDK able to change that behaviour, so that the JPG that comes with the RAW in RAW+JPG mode will be stored with the user defined
settings?

Whim, great job. I have 1.00h and this is my first time using chdk and the optical zoom works great in movie mode. Yes you can hear the motor, but it's not a huge deal.

Also do guys think we need to re-focus when zooming ?. As I noticed the picture still seems pretty clear with the zoom ?.

no need to refocus as long as you just zoom without moving the cam. but if you move the cam, e.g. for a closeup or if you want to refocus for something new, you DO need refocus.

Not sure if the issue is the same; but I found on the SX30 that the custom init_file_modules_task code does not get called when starting the camera in play mode. By chance I discovered a workaround was to add a delay after hooking the keyboard task. Now if someone can explain why this works I would be eternally grateful 😀

Note that code in the CHDK port is required to support this feature, so it may not work on your camera.

Hey guys, total newbie here so I hope my ignorance is forgiven.

What binary should I download if I'm just looking for the most basic of features on the S95? I really just need it to take pictures automatically. i.e. shoot a picture continuously every second for example.

Use the one that matches the firmware of your camera. If you don't know your firmware version, the easiest way to to try both and use the one that works.

there's only one binary for any given camera (well, two sometimes, since SDM has all the basic features of CHDK). Each binary comes in two flavours - just the DISKBOOT.BIN itself and a larger zip that has sample scripts, fonts etc as well.

Take a picture with your camera then download my ACID program and it will do the whole job for you. See

Great program, but S95 does not (yet) belong to CHDK supported camera list.

The acid program did not list any CHDK but it did tell me my firmware, which is the 1.00h version. So I'll know which binary to download.

I got everything going and did the FAT Format on my 4 GB card and it seemed to work. However, the Make Bootable button isn't highlighted afterwards so I can't click it and continue.

There is a message right above the make bootable and Format as FAT buttons that says CHDK Autorun: not tested, FAT 32 can't boot.

The only thing I can think of is that I have a SD HC card? I think the HC on it is new technology and maybe not compatible? Thanks for the help guys.
