I would also like to repeat my request form a few posts ago that someone test zebra. I suspect this port suffers the same problem as the sx510 did. Since this involves memory corruption, this could also theoretically cause bricking. To test this, just enabled zebra and half press and check free memory repeatedly.

I'm testing zebra using trunk rev 4298. I have not seen any change in memory info.

Thanks :)

Did you do half presses where a substantial part of the viewport would show something on the zebra? If so, I'd expect bad things to happen pretty quickly if it has the same problem as sx510 did.

The reason I asked is that vid_get_viewport_height returns 480 or _GetVRAMVPixelsSize. Most cameras with a viewport height of 480 use vid_get_viewport_yscale 2 and return half height values. This is a big mess of interacting functions and defines, so I'm not 100% sure it's wrong but it seems suspect.

A comment says "taken from n" but the N port actually returns 240 or  _GetVRAMVPixelsSize/2, and uses yscale 2

Do edge overlay and zebra display correctly on this camera? chdkptp live view?

Yes, I did that yesterday.

I tested again, an now I see that zebra area appears at right position, then it appears with vertical offset, then it backs to right position. I did not noticed that offset yesterday probably because zebra areas were at top of screen and it looked like the areas were blinking.

chdkpt live view works correctly with all capture modes. ixus160 does not have option to change aspect ratio.

Could I get the latest ixus160 firmware build? I understand the risks and the bug that was experienced doesn't fit my use case anyway. Thanks!

The root cause is unknown, so unless your use case is "paper weight" I would be not assume it's completely safe ;) That said, many people appear to be using this port without problems, so the risk is likely to be low.
